Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting a Senior CFD Engineer to join our Intelligent Operations team based in Perth. This is an immediate requirement and is a permanent staff role offering a range of career and personal development opportunities.

Reporting to the CFD Team Lead, you will undertake CFD scopes and provide guidance and support junior members of the team if required. You will provide specialist hands on engineering detail from screening studies up to the completion of the execution phase.

You will be experienced in fluid dynamics, computational fluid dynamics simulation, computational domain meshing and heat transfer principles. A key part of the role requires being a primary point of contact for our clients and specialists, undertaking and delivering detailed technical work in support of the portfolio of projects and studies currently in hand. This will also include the use of CFD software to develop advanced CFD models and engineering calculations to solve complex flow problems involving transient, multiphase, multicomponent, multiphysics, coupled flow / thermal / stress.

We would like to connect with applicants with more than 5 years experience in transient dynamic modelling. Other aspects of the role include


  • Checking work is undertaken in accordance with the company quality management system
  • Ensuring that project objectives assigned by the Project Lead / Manager and Client are achieved
  • Development of work scopes and CTRs
  • Making effective presentations to clients that bottom line the results
  • Acting as client representative at technical meetings with third parties
  • Supporting studies, research and other developmental work

Skills / Qualifications



  • Recognised qualification in a relevant engineering discipline or extensive experience in a relative field and a demonstrated ability to be able to perform well within a technical team
  • Advanced degree focusing in the areas of multiphase flow / fluid dynamics / heat transfer / applied mathematics is desirable
  • 5+ years flow assurance experience in the Oil and Gas industry with an excellent technical background
  • Demonstrated proficiency in modelling tools and packages such as ANSYS FLUENT, CFX or Star CCM+ and / or open source software such as OpenFOAM
  • Programming / coding (VBA, python, etc.) and data analytics skills would be ideal
  • Local market knowledge would be advantageous
