Position Summary

This role reports to the VP of Human Resources and provides global HR Business Partner support to the Aerospace and Defense Technologies (ADTech) business segment and direct supervision of local HR Business Partners supporting ADTech business groups in different states, including California.

The ADTech HR Manager will partner with business and functional leaders (primarily senior leadership - Directors/VPs/SVPs) to develop and execute HR strategies focused on talent management, organizational effectiveness, workforce planning, and employee engagement. The ADTech HR Manager will provide support, as needed, in managing complex employee relations issues and will ensure effective and consistent application of HR programs and policies across ADTech in alignment with greater Oceaneering.

To be successful in this role, this person must understand business priorities and translate them into people priorities and actions, while leading and developing a high performing HR team, acting as a change agent driving for results by building organizational capability and performance. This role requires strong coordination with other functions (Legal, Finance, Security, etc.) to address people-related issues and challenges.

This position can reside in either Hanover, MD or Chesapeake, VA and will be hybrid-remote. Applicants are expected to be able to commute to their primary work location.

Duties & Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL
  • Liaise between Corporate HR and client groups for effective communication, trust, and problem solving.
  • Ensure effective implementation of Corporate HR programs and processes within ADTech; including performance and compensation, org design, assessments, succession planning and talent development, and Diversity and Inclusion (D&I); etc.
  • Balance the benefits of standardized Corporate program implementation with the unique needs of the government business and exert influence with Corporate HR leadership when modifications may be appropriate.
  • Partner with ADTech leaders to understand the people requirements and implications of business projects, initiatives, and action plans; and turn them into people priorities and HR solutions and action plans.
  • Exert influence to create positive change and proactively mitigate and resolve employee issues.
  • Act as a trusted advisor on sensitive/complex people-related matters to ensure business needs are met while mitigating employment risk for the company and ensuring actions are aligned with the company's values and culture.
  • Provide guidance and coaching to senior management concerning employee engagement, performance management, career development, talent assessment, and retention.
  • Proactively identify opportunities and assess improvements to the employee experience and partner with senior management to develop and implement innovative and sustainable solutions.
  • Consult and advise on succession planning, talent review, and driving the annual compensation planning cycle across ADTech.
  • Assist with the transformational change and communication efforts by providing consultative support to senior management to develop and execute business strategies.
  • Partner with HR Centers of Excellence (COEs) in the planning and execution of various HR programs; and ensure direct reports are properly informed, engaged, and equipped to support these programs.
  • Lead and develop a high-performing HR team to provide efficient and effective support across ADTech and within specific business groups.
  • Travel will be required.

NON-ESSENTIAL
  • May design and conduct HR training for managers, employees, or HR staff
  • Other duties as assigned.

Supervisory Responsibilities
  • This position directly supervises professional HR staff

Reporting Relationship
  • This position will report directly to the Vice President, Human Resources with a dotted line to the ADTech Senior Vice President

Qualifications

REQUIRED
  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources Management, or related field. Experience may be considered in lieu of education.
  • Direct experience implementing policies and programs for federal contracts or military personnel
  • Typically 10 or more years' experience in multiple HR functions and/or a Generalist role, including 3-5 years managing HR staff and 3-5 years leading and executing projects
  • Proven experience supporting senior executives
  • Demonstrated ability to objectively coach employees and management through complex issues
  • Has relevant experience or demonstrated ability in turning business strategies into people-related actions; including development of strategic goals, identifying tactical plans to implement a strategy, and managing plan execution
  • Relevant knowledge of state and federal labor laws and regulations for private employers and government contractors
  • Thorough understanding and hands-on application of internal and external HR principles, concepts, practices, and standards
  • Strong project management, process development, and continuous improvement skills
  • Strong relationship, influence, and conflict management skills
  • Adaptable to conflicting priorities, multiple projects, and time pressures
  • Strong quantitative and qualitative analytical skills (including Excel)

DESIRED
  • Master's degree in Business, Human Resources or related field.
  • PHR/SHRM-CP Certification
