Wood is recruiting for an Instrument & Electrical Designer to join our team in Perth. This is a long-term opportunity to join our expanding Oil and Gas Operations team, due to the recently securing several large projects with existing long term clients, in addition to a new and significant Brownfields engineering opportunity being negotiated with a major player in the LNG industry.
Wood's Operations APAC (West) business delivers Brownfields engineering, procurement, construction, optimisation, and technical services to the Oil & Gas sector and enjoys long-term partnerships with the region's most prominent producers located in Western Australia, Northern Territory and Kazakhstan.
Reporting directly to the EI&C Lead, you will be working collaboratively across disciplines on FEED / Execution to EPCM delivery on a range of Brownfields Oil & Gas projects with the support of an established team, both locally and internationally.
In addition, you will:
- Readily take ownership of discipline design commitments and requirements on a project
- Ensure deliverables are consistently checked, accurate and presentable
- Provide day to day services to the project

Skills / Qualifications
You must be an Australian citizen or currently hold Permanent Residency (PR) and able to work lawfully in Australia without company sponsorship.
Ideally you will have relevant experience in a similar Instrument & Electrical Designer role in the Oil & Gas industry within an engineering and maintenance project environment, with both onshore and offshore scope of work engagements.
In addition, you will have
- Relevant Certificate or suitably qualified by industry experience
- An ability to interpret and translate engineering concepts into practical designs
- An ability to both lead and work collaboratively in a team environment
- Open to spend time away from office location as and when operation requires
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal)
- Excellent analytical and numerical skills
- Professional demeanour and interpersonal skills
- A solutions mindset and able to manage varying tasks with often changing and competing priorities
Experience with SPI (SmartPlant Instrumentation), SPEL (SmartPlant Electrical) and S3D (SmartPlant 3D) would be advantageous but not essential.
