The Scientist will be responsible for activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept.
As a Scientist - Electromagnetic Modeling and Simulation of Borehole Geophysics, you will be responsible for:
• Modeling and simulating of electromagnetic down hole drilling tool measurements
• Developing mathematical algorithms based on physics of electromagnetic wave propagation
• Coding these algorithms in C++, MATLAB or similar programming environments
• Verifying and testing these algorithms with laboratory and down hole data
• Investigating the applicability for interpretation of down hole formation environments
• Contributing to development of HPC solutions for EM field modelling and inversion
• Participating in field data analysis and evaluating quality of current solutions, suggesting improvements for performance and quality of data interpretation
• Working in a multi-team environment spread geographically to create answer products for reservoir navigation and formation evaluation
• Collaborating with other research teams members
Fuel your passion
To be successful in this role you will:
• Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Physics/Mathematics with 8+ years' experience, or Master's Degree in Physics/Mathematics with 4+ years' experience, or Ph.D. in Physics/Mathematics with 2+ years' experience preferably in the oil and gas industry
• Have strong analytical skills in the field of mathematics and physics
• Have deep understanding and experience in numerical modelling and simulation algorithms of electromagnetics
• Have good understanding and experience in inversion problems
• Have experience in algorithm development for data processing/interpretation, preferably for O&G industry
• Have excellent oral and written communication skills. Great team player
