Overview / Responsibilities

Wood's Consulting business is currently seeking a Junior Noise Control Engineer to join our growing team. This is a hands-on, field-based role, travelling to client facilities, collecting data and assisting with analysis and reports. The ideal candidate will be an Engineer-In-Training, with 1-4 years experience in Noise or Vibration data collection and assessment, combined with a good mechanical aptitiude and grasp of engineering principles.

Please note this role can be based in Calgary, AB Houston, TX or Oakville, ON.

Key Responsibilities:

The successful candidate would be expected to assume the following responsibilities and activities in this position:
  • Site Noise Measurements and Monitoring
  • Noise data analysis
  • Acoustic modeling (CadnaA, SoundPlan, Matlab, AutoCad or similar)
  • Working under the direction of senior engineers to support project work
  • Other responsibilities/activities as required to support project work
  • Technical Report Preparation
  • Hands-on consultancy role, combining client management, field work and office-based analysis
  • Take noise measurements, analyze and report on data, and provide recommendations to clients
  • Extensive travel may be required including travel to remote locations on occasion


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Acoustics, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Physics or an equivalent discipline required
  • EIT registration would be an asset, eventual PE registration expected
  • 1-4 years of experience in an industrial facility or environment, ideally in the area of data collection or reporting on equipment
  • Min of 1 year experience using multi-channel noise instruments - data collectors/analyzers/loggers desired
  • Competency in review of engineering drawings and specifications
  • Excellent English communication skills (both oral and written), with the a bility to engage and interact professionally with colleagues, suppliers and clients
  • Strong attention to detail, combined with excellent time management skills, to take on, balance and complete multiple projects
  • Motivated and enthusiastic learner with the ability to work independently and in team settings
  • Must be available to travel (mostly domestic) offshore and onshore, sometimes on short notice
  • Must have a valid unrestricted driver's license
  • Must have valid TWIC card, or eligible to obtain
  • Must be US or Canadian Citizen or be authorized to work in Canada or the US, without sponsorship from Wood
