Calumet processes crude oil and other feedstocks into customized lubricating oils, solvents and waxes used in consumer, industrial and automotive products and produces fuel products including gasoline, diesel and jet fuel.

Position Summary

The Project Manager will manage overall leadership to the Project Controls effort including scheduling, cost control, estimating, change management and project reporting. This position will be responsible for completing projects according to design, and ensuring projects are completed within schedule and budget limitations. This position is also responsible to oversee projects so that environmental and safety compliance is maintained throughout the project execution. This position also fields construction issues and conflicts in the field and quickly resolves them to keep work moving on schedule. This position reports to the Technical Services Manager.

Position Responsibilities

• Oversees finalization of the project cost estimate and its translation to a budget
• Facilitates establishment of Control Baseline data for scope, schedule and cost
• Validates the balance between cost reports and the CMR accounting system
• Validates Contractor progress and payment requests including audits
• Facilitates the contingency management process
• Prepares and submits through the PM project In-Service notifications
• Oversight of an effective document control process that ensures version control and management of holds
• Assistance with expediting and problem resolution
• Becomes part of the Integrated Project Team
• Oversees compliance of FEL Process
• Possess scope control and change management proven knowledge
• Evaluate labor cost and hour and manpower requirements against budget constraints
• Produce and maintain accurate project schedules and understand schedule resources loading
• Manage complete financial cycle such as vendor purchase orders, client, cost proposals and invoices
• Administer market budget and track and report project finances
• Plan and execute systems, resources and staff to support project and market schedules
• Act as cost and scheduling process subject matter expert
• Maintain current internal client database records and document control systems
• Coordinate with vendors, project manager and client to prepare business and technical project documentation
• Conduct vendor and internal audits to review accuracy, quality and completeness of database records and documents
• Prepare monthly reports and assemble data to consolidate
• Create control budget and review and authenticate cost reports and change notices
• Recommend training and professional development of project control staff
• Monitor functional staffing plans and support hiring of project controls personnel
• Implement and ensure cost control processes to report on estimates, expenditures and cost commitments accurately

REQUIREMENTS:

• Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) Engineering required; Mechanical, Chemical, or Electrical preferred

EXPERIENCE & SKILLS:
• Possess excellent personal safety record
• Experience with safety training, planning and troubleshooting preferred
• 10 or more years of project management experience in a refinery or chemical plant setting preferred
• Technical knowledge of process and project engineering preferred
• Basic ability to design equipment and systems
• Basic ability to assess, project and review overall project cost
• Experience at leading and operating both independently and within a team-oriented, collaborative environment preferred
• General business, accounting and financial skills
• Experience with MS Project, Word, Excel and Access
• Strong written and oral communication skills
