Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a HES Supervisor with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry to join the O&M team in Equatorial Guinea on a temporary 12 month basis, rotation 10 weeks on \ 3 weeks off.

Candidates need to be fluent in English and Spanish languages, have previously worked in a power plant and have experience in developing management systems.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Experiences with developing and implementing management/safety systems.
2. Develop and provide direction in the implementation of a "Fit for Purpose" system in an Electrical Generation Plant utilizing the management system (referred as Responsible Operations management System - ROMS) as a basis for the Turbogas Electrical Generation Plant system.
3. Has experience working in an Electricity Generation Plant / Facilities involving High Voltage Generation and Supply facilities / procedures.
4. To ensure personnel are aware of risks related to jobs to be performed in the facility (experience conducting project risk assessments, auditing, inspections, emergency response plans, Waste management, etc.)
5. The Management Systems will establish Controls/Procedures required to maintain Safe Operations within the Facility in order to prevent near misses, accidents & losses of company property by ensuring compliance to the relevant procedures.
6. Understanding of establishing and maintaining a culture with a demonstrated increased commitment and compliance to HES policy and procedures
7. Support the Turbo Gas Plant Manager and team with planning, coordinating and implementing of effective HES policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure that the department objectives are met.
8. Investigate and complete the process for close out of all Accident Investigation Reports and prepare/submit lessons learned to the leadership team. Assess and analyze all safety records, trends and statistics to derived reliable report to present to management.
9. Identify gaps; develop strategy, action plans for improvements in HES performance. Knowledge of Event Management Standard Requirements and its application (referred to OSHA for Guidance)
10. Maintaining a system for recording, reporting and investigating events and ensure system is actualized with Key Performance Indicators to meet business expectations.
11. Creation of a coaching culture and an environment that facilitates knowledge transfer to a designated Local HES professional to ensure that the individual has the opportunity to develop to fulfill their maximum potential.

Skills / Qualifications

  • Essential: Fluent in spoken and written English and Spanish
  • Extensive experience in a electrical generation / supply facilties role
  • Power Plant experience
  • Management System development experience essential
  • BSc Degree in Safety Engineering or similar formal HES qualifications /
  • Some experience in a leadership role
    • Strong leadership skills in order to develop others, provide timely feedback and guidance to the technicians
    • Facilitate change where the tasks are complex, unclear or uncertain
  • Computer literate in:
    • Microsoft Word
    • Microsoft Excel
    • SAP (advantageous)
