Aramco energizes the world economy.
Aramco occupies a unique position in the global energy industry. We are the world's largest producer of hydrocarbons (oil and gas), with the lowest upstream carbon intensity of any major producer.
With our significant investment in technology and infrastructure, we strive to maximize the value of the energy we produce for the world along with a commitment to enhance Aramco's value to society.
Headquartered in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and with offices around the world, we combine market discipline with a generations' spanning view of the future, born of our nine decades experience as responsible stewards of the Kingdom's vast hydrocarbon resources. This responsibility has driven us to deliver significant societal and economic benefits to not just the Kingdom, but also to a vast number of communities, economies, and countries that rely on the vital and reliable energy that we supply.
We are one of the most profitable companies in the world, as well as amongst the top five global companies by market capitalization.
We are seeking a Geological Consultant to work with Saudi Aramco's EXPLORATION AND PETROLEUM ENGINEERING ADVANCED RESEARCH CENTER (EXPEC ARC). EXPEC ARC develops novel technologies and offers advanced technical services to achieve the company key upstream objectives; (1) increasing hydrocarbon discovery and reservoir recovery; and (2) ensuring cost-effective long-term production reliability. EARC's Geochemistry Unit (GU) focuses on providing advanced geochemical solutions to help assess reservoir and source rock potential, delineate field/basin, conduct correlation studies for prospecting, and support field operations. GU uses a wide range of analytical technologies/instrumentations, housed in one of the largest laboratories to serve Exploration and Production (E&P) proponents across the company.
The Geological Consultant must be able to initiate and lead technical services and apply research that primarily utilize geochemical tools to resolve issues of E&P operational and intermediate to long-term strategic significance. In addition, should have strong geochemical skills in general with specialization in stable isotope geochemistry of natural gas (conventional & unconventional) and water.
You will be required to perform the following:
Utilize stable isotope geochemistry to help identify the source, mass transfer, and biodegradation of oil and gas in petroleum systems.
Synthesize interpretations from varied geochemical data independently and as a part of interdisciplinary teams.
Train young professionals and technicians.
Oversee isotope lab instrumentation and develop analytical methods. EXPEC ARC's Isotope labs are equipped with several analytical instruments including: Flash Elemental Analyzer, Gas Bench, and GC IsoLink coupling with Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers for isotope analyses of carbonate rocks, kerogen, oil fractions and natural gas samples, plus Picarro analyzers for water, CO2, and methane samples.
As a successful candidate, you
Hold a Bachelor's degree Organic Geochemistry or related fields in chemistry or geology, a PhD in Organic Geochemistry is highly recommended; current experience must be in petroleum & water isotope geochemistry.
Have a minimum of 10 years professional experience related to petroleum exploration and production geochemistry.
Must have excellent analytical capabilities in the laboratory with Isotope Ratio Mass Spectrometers and their peripherals, and experience in dealing with data from all these instruments.
Are able to conduct applied research in petroleum geochemistry.
