Overview / Responsibilities Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions is seeking a
Construction Manager/Engineer - Energy Marshal to join a data center project in South Hill, VA.
The Data Center Construction Manager/Engineer - Energy Marshal will serve full time onsite as the Owner's Agent and will be responsible for verifying the implementation of the energy isolation program at the site for mechanical, electrical, and plumbing (MEP) is coordinated and executed in accordance with the client and site plans.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor the execution of the project scope from preconstruction, construction, and close-out
- Coordinate with the environmental, health, and safety teams onsite to support a safety culture surrounding all aspects of the control of hazardous energy
- Work with the general contractor and subcontractors onsite to verify safe working conditions have been established by reviewing documentation (including procedures, job hazard analysis, and permits) and spot checking the energy program for construction and commissioning activities
- Work with construction and commissioning teams to ensure safe working conditions to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of MEP systems
- Participate in High Risk Activity (HRA) planning meetings
- Identify and assist in the mitigation of project risks and monitor the development and implementation of corrective action plans
- Participate in all necessary project meetings
- Prepare weekly and monthly reports
Skills / Qualifications - 3+ years of construction experience in the control of hazardous energy on large-scale, complex projects. Mission critical facilities experience is preferred.
- Experience developing energy isolation plans preferred
- Knowledge of NFPA70E, National Electric Code, OSHA requirements and their application to typical equipment onsite (e.g., paralleling switchgear, redundant UPS and mechanical systems, etc.)
- Master/Journeyman Electrician considered a plus
- OSHA 30-hour certification
- Knowledgeable in major regulations, industry codes and standards as well as construction
