The team plays an important role in engaging internal and external stakeholders with the company's brand, culture, purpose, and portfolio of technology solutions, supporting commercial and broader stakeholder outreach with impactful positioning. Our team is a group of analytical and creative thinkers with an audience-first mindset, who understand employee engagement and culture activation, media relations, sales enablement and marketing communications, public affairs, digital marketing, social media, content development, thought leadership, community affairs, stakeholder engagement, and campaign strategies.

You will develop and push strategic communications, engaging both internal and external stakeholders and supporting Baker Hughes' Turbomachinery & Process Solutions business and Climate Technology Solutions organization globally. In-depth description
The Senior Communications Manager will be accountable for developing a global communications strategy that helps protect, build and enhance the reputation and brand of Baker Hughes with key stakeholders in the communities in which it operates, with a particular focus on gas, climate, tech and industrial solutions. In this role, you will develop a communications strategy that underpins BH's commitment to delivering innovative technology and solutions for our customers, developing skills and expertise, fostering diversity, equity and inclusion, strengthening the company's relationship with key industry stakeholders, and building collaborative communities.

As a Senior Communications Manager, you will be responsible for:

 

  • Leading as the day-to-day liaison for key business units taking an active role as a member of their global Leadership teams.
  • Developing an integrated communications strategy that takes into account the business unit priorities and positions Baker Hughes with key influencers in the communities in which it operates, including industry associations and that aligns to our ESG goals and priorities
  • Collaborating with the wider TPS and BH Communications team, including the Employee & Culture Communications, External Affairs and Brand and Marketing Communications teams, identifying and developing 360-degree storytelling, thought leadership and commercial activation opportunities across a variety of mediums including employee communication channels, media relations, advertising, events and digital marketing
  • Driving an issues & reputational management approach, leading coordination in partnership with the External Affairs team in times of crisis
  • Enhancing the capabilities of the existing business spokespeople (and developing new ones as needed) for executive and subject matter expert positioning
  • Coordinating high-level engagement with key stakeholders in particular in Italy, France, the United States and across the Middle East
  • Increasing thought leadership capabilities and presence in the media, social media and events, and industry groups/associations by identifying placement opportunities and developing content including thought-provoking articles, speeches and campaigns
  • Producing factual, informative and insightful briefings to support the global Corporate Affairs team as well as senior leadership of the company
  • Developing, implementing and recommending a network of third-party advocates and validators of Baker Hughes and building a dialogue with these around industrial asset management, the future of gas, and driving decarbonization in hard-to-abate energy and industrial sectors
  • Helping to build relationships between business leaders and key influencers, educating and maintaining awareness of key culture change initiatives as well as community issues within Baker Hughes and developing and implementing effective communications strategies in support of them
  • Acting as an active member of the global BH Corporate Affairs function to ensure the communications strategy is aligned with global engagement & public affairs communication strategies
  • Measuring progress against the plan, defining metrics and other measuring tools to help assess the effectiveness
  • Responsible for budget and vendor management assigned by projects as appropriate


To be successful in this role you will:

 

 

  • Significant experience of experience in communications, in an international environment
  • Have proven multinational energy or industrial sector experience either in a start-up or global organization
  • Have demonstrated ability in media relations and public affairs including developing and implementing global communication and marketing campaigns
  • Have a good understanding of measurement and evaluation in communications
  • Be able to maintain clear processes and multi-task as well as pivoting given the unpredictability of the environment
  • Have rigorous attention to detail
  • Be fluent in written and spoken English as well as at least one other language. Knowledge of Italian a plus.

  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills, including outstanding influencing abilities and a strong collaborative team player
  • Experience with journalists in technology, environmental, ESG and industrial sectors are highly desired.
  • Proven ability to work and manage multiple 3rd party agencies (PR, advertising, brand, digital) to drive success
  • Experience working within an agency managing multiple clients
  • Demonstrable innovation in the creation of multi-faceted communications campaigns
