The Category Manager is responsible for developing and implementing Category strategies and supply base design that ensures continuously decreasing product and service cost, improving service delivery and reduced supply risk. They define the long-term supply strategy for a category of spend, with consideration of business objectives, stakeholder requirements, expected demand and external market conditions to deliver optimized and best-in-class total cost of ownership, with mitigated supply risks.

Roles and Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop the Category Strategy and Family Plans in order to leverage global spend opportunities, reduce lead times and minimize the total cost of ownership.
  • Develop and implement global strategic sourcing and spend strategies for assigned Families, aligned to Division requirements.
  • Ensure alignment across Divisions for preferred suppliers and family plans that consider concentration, capacity, lead time, cost, risk, ESG and operational performance, along with Division-specific business requirements.
  • Define, monitor and maintain a supply base profile in the Buying Guides and drive compliant purchasing practices.
  • Identify and collaborate with internal stakeholders and suppliers to introduce new and innovative technologies and processes to improve margins and service delivery.
  • Manage global spend and global suppliers for assigned Families.
  • Analyze aggregated demand against supply capacity to provide input to Basin and Division scenario planning.
  • Monitor and evaluate global markets trends, intervene to manage/mitigate the impact of supply shortfalls or price adjustments, or market opportunities.
  • Manage the supplier lifecycle for suppliers for assigned Families, from approval to disqualification.
  • Ensure all managed suppliers have executed contracts in place, are actively monitored and full value extraction is delivered Post-Award.
  • Benchmark performance and ensure supplier audit plans and execution are conducted with assistance from key stakeholders.

Qualifications and Experience:
  • 10+ years of experience in Category management, Sourcing, Procurement, Engineering or related field.
  • Specific category management experience in O&G chemicals, additives and raw materials manufacturing is preferred
  • This role is global in scope, exposure to domestic and international chemicals supply chains dynamics is preferred
  • Strong experience with negotiation of contract and commercial terms and conditions
  • Ability to lead through influence, recommend sourcing strategies and deliver business results
  • Candidates must be able to legally work and reside in the US without sponsorship.
