Project EHS Specialist

The Project EHS Specialist is responsible for all aspects of EHS as it relates to the project execution. Reporting to the Project Manager. They will be an integral part of the project execution team and required to work closely with project engineering, field construction supervisor, project sourcing and project execution.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Ensure 100% implementation of safety program required for project.
  • Track EHS KPIs
  • Keep a daily count of all personnel on site.
  • Ensure the all contractors (including subs) are approved through the EHS department.
  • Work closely with contractor safety representatives to ensure site policies are followed.
  • Administer contactor orientation upon arrival to site and maintain a log of approved employees.
  • Review and prepare job safety plans, lift plans and attend morning safety meetings of contractors
  • Conduct monthly site safety meeting with all job site contractors' employees.
  • Work with site EHS to implement a construction permitting and auditing process.
  • Ensure projects have required construction and environmental reports in a timely manner.
  • Send out weekly EHS reports to the project and local teams.
  • Assist the effort and work with engineering to ensure that all project design and processes comply with local PSM and RMP standards.
  • Make daily safety rounds to audit contractors project personnel.
  • This list is not all-inclusive and may include other duties as assigned and necessary for the management of the project and overall plant operation.
  • Initiate Incident Investigations and ensure action item follow-up related to investigations.

Support Functions
  • Ensure all project records are in order regarding all safety-related activities.
  • Perform a lessons Learned exercise for continuous improvement of the process.

Minimum Skills and Qualifications
  • B.S. degree in EHS, Engineering or 10 Years Plant EHS equivalent experience.
  • 5 years in an EHS with education requirements
  • Demonstrates good communications and Interpersonal skills.
  • Capable of scheduling and planning a team's work
  • Capable to multi-task, prioritize and making sound decisions
  • Team player willing to work on complex project teams

Phyisical Demands/Conditions Requirements
  • Ability to work additional hours as necessary to maintain project schedules. Weekends may be included when needed.
  • Physical ability to climb stairs, ladders and enter confined space to review progress/quality at construction sites in all phases of construction.
  • Physical ability to make presentations and participate in meetings both on the construction site and in an office setting.
