We are seeking a Petroleum Engineer to join the Drilling Technology Division of the Exploration and Petroleum Engineering Center (EXPEC) Advanced Research Center. The team is tasked to develop future drilling and workover technologies that will place Saudi Aramco among the best in the industry in terms of Safety, Performance, Efficiency and Cost effectiveness.
The Engineer is expected to take technical leadership role in defining drilling technology programs for the company. Also, to provide top industry expert level technical advice and guidance in chiefly, but not limited to advanced or state-of-art technologies development for drilling tools, methods, and systems. Additional knowledge in the areas of completion and software development for drilling and completion applications is not required but highly desirable.
You will be required to perform the following:
Identify business needs in collaboration with proponents from the Drilling & Workover (D&WO) engineering and operations departments.
Initiate, Conduct and supervise day-to-day operations of Research and Development (R&D) projects (in-house as well as outsourced collaborations) within Drilling & Workover Systems and Methods focus area.
Communicate and document research project plan and results to stakeholders and management.
Efficiently deploy developed technologies in collaboration with stakeholders from the D&WO organization.
Publish research findings in high-ranking publications including scientific journals. Generate and protect novel ideas through filing patents. Review and mentor less experienced researchers in domain to achieve research Key Performance Indicators (KPI's) (technology deployments, publications, patents).
Provide expert advice and assistance on operating problems relating to the area of expertise. Execute project management for development of new research projects within the same area.
Conduct financial evaluation of the expected added value of new proposals, and the added value of completed projects.
As a successful candidate, you
Hold a Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or equivalent technical field. MS or PhD are desirable.
Have at least 10 years of related experience, the Engineer is expected to demonstrate a track record in the area of technology development and deployment of new drilling tools. A proven track record related to the design of downhole tools is highly desirable, as well.
Have an intensive industry training including appropriate specialized courses and seminars.
