C++/C# Software Engineer

At Schlumberger's Abingdon Technology Centre, UK, we require an experienced Software Developer to help contribute to the design and development of one of our industry leading desktop applications. The focus of the team is the delivery of commercial software, which supports reservoir engineers working in the energy industry.

This position offers an exciting opportunity for an experienced Developer to take a lead role in improving existing and developing brand new functionalities for Petrel, an application utilised by Geoscientists and Petroleum Engineers around the world.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Work on new features and algorithms in the team responsible for the core 3d modelling data structures of the desktop application
  • Fix bugs of varying degrees of difficulty (the absolute best way to learn the code base initially)
  • Write UI dialogs (in WPF) to drive new processes and algorithms
  • Write comprehensive unit and integration tests

Required Experience:
  • Commercial experience developing in either C# or C++, with a willingness to learn and work with both.
  • Degree or higher qualification in Computer Science or Mathematic discipline with a strong mathematical component.

Nice to Have:
  • Knowledge of 3D geometrical concepts - vectors, matrices, transformations.

Compensation & Benefits:
  • Competitive base salary (£50,000 - £80,000)
