Role Overview
The Plant Manager reports to the Senior Vice President of Engineering & Execution. The role oversees all operations of the chemical recycling facility and is responsible for ensuring environmental, health and safety is the top priority. The Plant Manager manages the P&L, Production, Scheduling, Shipping & Receiving, Maintenance, Environmental Compliance, Health & Safety, Contractor/Vendor Relations, and Quality Control. The role is also responsible for all aspects of personnel management, including staffing, performance reviews, goal setting and progress monitoring, and discipline. This position requires a strong, inspiring leader with strong interpersonal skills that can effectively build and sustain a high-performing Operations team; the individual must also be a hands-on, self-starter, resourceful problem solver and highly responsive team player.

  • Hands-on interactions with plant staff to identify and resolve problems
  • Implement solutions ranging from diagnosis of abnormal operating conditions, troubleshooting, and resolving process issues per Management of Change process
  • Strong mechanical experience with understanding of extruders, gear boxes, pumps, heat exchangers, instrumentation and controls
  • Lead root cause analysis with Engineering, Operations, and EHS teams
  • Develop actionable plans from root cause analysis and drive implementation to achieve production goals on defined timeline
  • Plan, schedule, oversee implementation, and commission plant improvements with equipment vendors, contractors, and the plant operations team
  • Identify areas of improvement for performance of the system, or reduction in required maintenance, and drive implementation of solutions
  • Assists in troubleshooting/tuning/improving:
    • PID Loops
    • Control Errors
    • Instrumentation Calibration errors and drift
    • Plant reliability
    • Equipment maintenance and uptime
  • Monitors plant operating costs and cost projections. Identifies and acts to control, avoid and reduce costs as appropriate
    • Minimum 5 yrs experience as a Plant/Operations Manager in Chemical Manufacturing industry
    • Excellent judgment regarding health, safety, environmental and fire protection risks with emphasis on injury prevention and business continuity
    • Experience managing P&Ls and budgets
    • Experience managing vendors/contractors
    • Strong understanding of process flow
    • Experience evaluating pumps, control valves, and instrumentation
    • Experience in a Process Safety Management (PSM) regulated facility is preferred
    • Familiar with Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) and Management of Change (MOC)
    • Understanding of organic chemistry preferred
    • Bachelor's degree or greater in engineering / technical discipline
