Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is seeking an experienced Intermediate Controls Specialist to join our Conventional Energy team in Calgary.

Responsibilities:
  • Work independently and provide mentorship/guidance to less experienced team members
  • Provide controls input to process P&ID
  • Prepare, review, and sign/stamp control deliverables such as Control Philosophy, Control Narrative, Cause and Effect diagram, and Control system architecture
  • Provide input into DBM
  • Provide cost estimates
  • Plan and coordinate project scheduling for controls
  • Participate in HazOp, LOPA, and SIL review
  • Prepare and review IO lists and assignments
  • Selection and procurement of controls hardware
  • Provide technical support in FAT
  • Prepare and review approve vendor documents
  • Configuration of controls equipment: logic and HMI for PLC/DCS/ Safety Systems
  • Equipment communications and network systems
  • Have frequent contact with client, vendor, and internal staff
  • Field commissioning and start-up
  • Help to develop new business and manage client relations and expectations


Skills / Qualifications

  • Undergraduate or Graduate Degree in Controls Engineering
  • Minimum of 10+ years of related experience
  • Ability to register as a Professional Engineer (P.Eng.) in the province of Alberta
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work efficiently and demonstrate effective organizational skills
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Must live within reasonable commuting distance
  • Must be legally eligible to work in Canada at time of application
