Partner with the best

As a Lead Firmware Engineer, you are responsible for the development, integration and maintenance of new and existing embedded software systems for our downhole tools using both structured C and object orientated C++. The successful candidate will also be collaborating with the central research team to align the firmware development processes and code structure across the wider business.

As a Lead Firmware Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and agreeing the embedded software specification for tool developments
  • Developing and adapting embedded software for ARM M0+ using object orientated C++
  • Developing and adapting embedded software for microcontroller and DSPs using C
  • Working with real-time operating systems on embedded devices
  • Managing Low level driver development for microcontrollers and DSP
  • Development of PC based test software to interact with embedded targets using C#
  • Digital signal processing algorithm implementation
  • Managing generation and enhancement of embedded software documentation

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Have a proven industrial track record in Embedded Software development
  • Have excellent C and C++ skills in an embedded, multi-threaded environment
  • Be able to design, develop and document software using techniques such as UML
  • Have strong analytical and debugging skills
  • Have experience of hardware/software interfacing, particularly analogue data conversion and digital electronics
  • Have experience of Low-level communication interfaces such as RS232, SPI, CAN
  • Have sound communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Proven experience working in a multi-disciplinary team
  • be a highly motivated self-starter
