Scope of Responsibilities

• Person responsible for providing technical expertise in support of all WORK. This includes the development of the scope and/or supervision of method statements, lifting plans and task-based risk assessments ensuring all relevant engineering standards are applied, documented, and recorded.


Primary Duties

Co-ordinate, communicate and direct offshore personnel in providing a safe and operationally effective service

• Focus on mechanical handling equipment availability targets as well as providing a first line focal point and technical support function to the Client in all aspects of mechanical handling operation, maintenance, and inspection service

• Management and control of the fixed, mobile, and portable lifting equipment inspection, recertification and supply service to applicable Client and regulatory standards and processes

• Ensure that all lifting equipment, including specialist equipment, is supplied to the relevant Client's QA standards and Procedures

• Act as technical expert for mechanical handling equipment and support Client representatives on all matters relating to mechanical handling

• Support Project Manager with clear and precise annual contract service budgets to facilitate Client approval and actual expenditure payment to be easily reconciled

• Liaise with relevant mechanical handling OEMs as required by Client

• Be responsible for all safety and technical integrity related matters associated with the operation and maintenance of mechanical handling equipment

• Act as the focal point for onshore and offshore personnel on lifting services

• Manage all Client engineering activities associated with mechanical handling equipment and specialist lifts

• Support Site Lifting Competent Person with lifting plans to ensure safe lifting practices and design

• Act as the Client maintenance Lifting Planner to ensure maintenance of all applicable lifting equipment is efficiently completed and noncompliance tracked

• Attend planning meetings, as required; to ensure all mechanical handling activity and supply are aligned with Client requirements and the need for maintenance activity is clearly shown and understood in Client planning systems

• Ensure any necessary procedures, drawings, isolations etc. required for tasks are available to review according to the relevant activity planning and/or integration requirements scheduling

• Ensure adhoc work is structured into work pack (not covered by PMR's) with all spares and vendor requirements are clearly defined

• Conduct regular visits to the ASSET to promote and maintain effective communications with staff and ensure compliance with the quality assurance and safety management systems procedures and current legislation

• Cost / Delivery impact situations are reviewed by the supervisor


Decision Making Authority

• Decision limited to the scope of project specifications shall be consulted with supervisor on key decisions that will impact cost or project scope

• Have good HSE knowledge and able to recognise unsafe working practices or conditions and take steps to rectify them

• Plans and executes own work program and sets goals accordingly


Minimum Job Requirement

• Bachelor or master's in engineering (Mechanical engineering preferred)

• 4 - 6 years' experience of operation experience in the oil and gas sector

• Offshore experience in West African region is desirable

• Strong technical knowledge on mechanical handling and lifting equipment

• Technical knowledge and experience on FPSOs and offshore platforms is desirable

• Knowledge and awareness on BP Lifting Procedure 100572

• Knowledge and experience with SAP CMMS is desirable

• Work experience in BP projects is desirable

• Good communication skills, both verbal and written

• Proven analytical and problem-solving skills

• Work to the highest personal standards and achieve set objectives

• Show commitment to the team ethic by coaching and/or training sub-contract personnel as directed by line supervisor or client

• Experience in working in an integrated team in diverse locations

• Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to work to client charter values

• Individual required to frequently visit offshore platform and FPSO

• Fluent in speaking and listening capability in English and French. Arabic speaking is considered as added advantage

• Good written proficiency in English
