Focused on delivering for our Customers and creating sustainable value for Baker Hughes, the Regional Pursuit Leader will be responsible for leading the execution of the front end deal capture strategy, any early engagement study requirements and ultimately for securing new business contracts to ensure we maintain a strong backlog of successful & executable projects.

Based in the Subsea Production Systems (SPS) product company, the Regional Pursuit Leader role will be expected to lead several complex opportunities in parallel ranging from stand alone SPS equipment and services scopes through to fully integrated offerings spanning multiple Baker Hughes Product Companies and where required 3rd Party Consortium Partners.

  • Deliver strong leadership, be comfortable challenging others, have great relationship building skills, be a confident customer negotiator and have an unwavering drive to succeed.
  • Have a 'Bid to Execute' project mindset and be able to embed the culture within the deal/project teams.
  • Responsible for ensuring deal/project knowledge continuity exists throughout the 'project lifecycle
  • Lead the opportunity pursuit working in close partnership with the relevant Sales teams, nominated Project Managers/Directors and SPS COE Tender Managers to oversee early engagement studies, partner selections, tendering activities, contract finalizations and project mobilizations
  • Alongside Sales own, develop and evolve the opportunity capture (win) strategy
  • Influence Customer choices to position Baker Hughes to win whilst ensuring adhere to Customer requirements/outcomes and Customer specifications
  • In partnership with the SPS COE Tender Manager ensure our Capture Plan strategies are anchored with standard/preferred product offerings and execution strategies
  • Have an unwavering focus on risk and opportunity management through the project lifecycle . Identifying risks and opportunities, developing mitigation strategies and interacting with key stakeholders as required to ensure they are adequately socialized and managed
  • Lead the opportunity pursuits from inception through: deal capture planning, capture plan execution, early engagement/solution positioning activities, tendering, 'Bid to Execute' project mobilization, contract finalization, seamless launch of the main equipment project all complete with a strong 'Life of Field' Service offering embedded.
  • The role will principally be focused on our NAM Regional portfolios with an expectation to travel within these regions as required. On occasions the Pursuit Leader may be required to support opportunities in other global regions based on the relative global workload demands at any given time.
  • Lead deal dispositioning sessions and ensure relevant lessons learned are captured and implemented into the business to ensure improvement and optimization of our solutions and execution models
  • Be instrumental in pricing activities ensuring adherence to the win strategy, market conditions and Customer's specific project viability constraints
  • Understand customer drivers and Tender requirements and translate these into actionable and winning opportunity strategies.
  • Support to any other Commercial and Business priorities and initiatives as required.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to demonstrate clear thinking with effective communication at all levels
  • Substantial relevant experience in Commercial models for complex deals in oil and gas
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Engineering, Business or other technical or business-related field or proven experience in Sales/Commercial

Desired Characteristics

 

  • Strong business acumen and demonstrable track record in supporting commercial strategy development.
  • Ability to mobilize, influence and lead cross functional teams to execute a complex pursuit strategy.
  • Deep domain knowledge of Subsea industry environment and market participants
  • Strong knowledge and experience in cost estimating, budgeting and pricing.
  • Knowledge of legal aspects and implications of contracts, terms and conditions, negotiation, etc. to enable identification and articulation of key commercial risks and appropriate mitigation strategies.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, including strong ability to present clearly to Senior Leaders.
  • Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Spanish Speaker
