Overview / Responsibilities

Wood currently has an exciting opportunity for a Quantity Surveyor to provide services for our Construction Project near Gogama, Ontario. If you have a successful track record and thrive on challenges in a fast-paced environment, this is the opportunity for you .

Key Responsibilities
  • Survey and validation of installed quantities
  • Understanding of earned value as it relates to productivity and schedule
  • Review and validate contractor progress reports
  • Perform and review material take offs from engineered drawings and prepare adhoc estimates as required
  • Perform high-level analysis of project quantities and costs for reasonableness
  • Understand and direct effort to focus on significant cost drivers
  • Prepare presentations and present to Project Management
  • Establish good working relationships with staff, engineering discipline leads, department and project managers and clients


Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years experience in quantity surveying on mining construction or heavy industrial construction projects
  • Certification as a Professional Quantity Surveyor (PQS)
  • Previous senior estimator experience on large industrial projects over $1 billion will be considered an asset
  • Demonstrated experience with quantity take offs, progress and cost validation
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, with proven capability in delivering presentations to senior management
  • Effective organizational skills, strong work ethic and leadership skills
  • Demonstrated skill to identify and solve problems in a prompt and decisive manner
  • Sound knowledge of construction processes
  • Knowledge of the AACEI estimate classifications and guidelines
  • An engineering degree or engineering technologist diploma would be considered an asset
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
