Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for an HVAC Technician, for a new build offshore FPSO project located in the East Mediterranean.

We are supporting the development of an offshore field to support bringing gas to the market by 2022. The development of the fields shall be undertaken using a new-build, spread-moored gas FPSO unit to process gas and associated liquids from subsea wells. Dry pipeline spec gas will be produced and piped through a gas export line to an onshore facility while the recoverable liquids will be tandem offloaded into tankers from the FPSO. The final subsea infrastructure will include three development wells.

The project will support with the preparation, start up and subsequent operation and maintenance of the deepwater gas development.

The position will initially be based in Singapore with ad hoc travel or rotational to East Mediterranean until early 2022.

The HVAC Technician will perform the required inspection, maintenance and repairs of all HVAC and refrigeration systems associated with project operations to meet the planning, scheduling and priorities of the FPSO whilst ensuring work is performed effectively, efficiently and safely and in accordance with the required procedures

KEY ACCOUNTABLILTIES:

Yard Phase:
  • Reporting to on shift Operations Team Lead.
  • Conducts and reviews the results of tests run in control room and ensure their reliability and accuracy.
  • Assist with commissioning and acceptance of HVAC and refrigeration systems
  • Review/maintain accurate and current records.
  • Ensures the installation, calibration and testing of platform HVAC and refrigeration systems is conducted in accordance with company requirements and any statutory guidelines
  • Embedding Client values and culture into the team and identifying any areas that are deficient so that alterations and improvements can be made.
  • Ensures the required supply of spare parts is available, prepares and requisitions items required.
  • Maintains good housekeeping conditions in workshop and work sites
  • Assessment of the HVAC and refrigeration systems to ensure operability will be acceptable with any deficiencies identified in a timely manner to enable resolution or mitigation and where appropriate the risks of not addressing are fully understood
  • Put forward suggestions and develop modification requests as necessary to improve plant/equipment efficiency/safety operations
  • Maintaining all HVAC and refrigeration equipment and systems controlling and supporting the FPSO life support and galley freezers.
  • Review of the operational HVAC and refrigeration manuals and procedures and ensure the onsite walk through and dry runs ensure that they are fit for purpose and accurate.
  • Prepare equipment for maintenance activity.
  • Participation in risk assessments when appropriate
  • Assist other discipline teams where required.
  • Proactively contribute to delivery against HSE plans and improvement objectives.
  • Be aware of physical condition of plant & equipment to ensure technical integrity is maintained; raise issues and concerns identified.
  • Ensure a safe and comprehensive handover is given at shift or crew change with all pertinent operational and maintenance information to relevant personnel.
  • HVAC and refrigeration equipment to be inspected on installation and equipment identified correctly Each location to have a detailed checklist of HVAC and refrigeration equipment available and maintenance schedule in place. Final inventory checks to be completed prior to sail away.
  • Support for the transition to Energean safe systems of work at sailaway to ensure that Client's duty of care is fulfilled.
  • Maintain effective communication with Supervisors and other work groups.
  • Working within the statutory Health and Safety Procedures and the Permit-to-Work system
  • Implementing planned and corrective maintenance on all HVAC and refrigeration equipment
  • Sound knowledge of plant operation, maintenance and computerised maintenance systems
  • Responsible for paper works checklist such as equipment description, principles, rating ranges, test records and inspections
  • Review and maintain the F-Gas register
  • Participate in PTW training for assurance that all personnel are competent with system requirements

Operational:
  • Report any defect or inspection report to relevant Maintenance Team Lead (MTL) in a clear and concise manner and record all relevant information in logs as required
  • Carry out basic refrigeration gas pipe work repairs, and re pressure of system
  • Maintain F-gas register to required legislative standards
  • Maintain sufficient F-gas stock on board.
  • Ensures the installation, calibration and testing of FPSO HVAC systems is conducted in accordance with company requirements and any statutory guidelines
  • On site assessment of the HVAC and refrigeration systems to ensure operability will be acceptable with and deficiencies identified in a timely manner to enable resolution or mitigation.
  • Actively participate in meetings, planning, initiatives etc.
  • Safety related equipment is supplied and installed correctly with any deficiencies identified as early as possible to allow timely rectification.
  • Maintain complete and accurate records within the Maintenance Management System
  • Adhere to all legislative, environmental and company standards and procedures and checklists.
  • Ensures the required supply of spare parts is available, prepares and requisitions items required.
  • Maintains good housekeeping conditions in workshop and work sites
  • Ensure effective systems are maintained for the identification, assessment and control of significant environmental risks at site.
  • Responsible for weekly monitoring checks on safety and production critical equipment, reporting any deviation of set parameters and raise work orders in client's maintenance management system.
  • Maintain effective communication with Supervisors and other work groups.
  • Carry out major services, overhauls and intrusive maintenance on platform equipment.
  • Carry out fault finding and diagnostic checks on all platform equipment, ensuring any repairs are addressed promptly.
  • Carry out inspections on all portable equipment and complete relevant paperwork.
  • Provide technical instruction and guidance to ad hoc personnel and new team members
  • Participate in HSE activities to make sure that risks are understood and controlled to highest level possible.
  • Participate and actively encourage a ONE TEAM approach for the O&M crew and the third party contractors staff that will be part of the core team make up.
  • Responding to out of hours call-outs as requested
  • Be part of the Emergency Response Team
  • Participating in incident investigations as required


Skills / Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications:
  • Completed Served a recognized apprenticeship in HVAC
  • City & Guild's, NVQ Level 3 Trade Qualification
  • F Gas or industry recognised equivalent
  • BOSIET / MEDICAL / MIST training
  • Emergency Response Team


Job-Specific Skills:
  • Previous offshore oil and gas experience, preferably working on an FPSO
  • A number of years previous experience in HVAC maintenance in oil/gas sector, chillers, condensers, fans and blowers, heaters industrial HVAC systems.


PC Application Skills:

  • Proficient PC skills to interrogate and input the CMMS and other Microsoft office programs
