Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this position would be responsible to contribute technically to the development of new products and to provide engineering support to Weatherford's Surface Pumping Unit products.

  • Perform engineering activities including concept development, detailed CAD design, design calculations, prototype testing and documentation.
  • Perform structural analysis based on loading conditions.
  • Manage design projects related to new product development and sustaining activities. Apply various project management techniques to meet project milestones.
  • Interact with engineering teams in other locations as part of a Project Team.
  • Apply various API, US, Canadian and European design and safety standards in the design development process.
  • Interact with Product Line, Manufacturing and Sales teams to provide engineering support as needed.
  • Lead or be part of Root Cause Analysis investigation for various operational and manufacturing issues.
  • Interact with clients and vendors independently as needed to provide product support.
  • Review Non-conformance Reports and field incidents and provide disposition.
  • Understand Weatherford Quality Policies and comply with all requirements of the Quality Systems Manual, Operating and Technical Procedures and Workplace Instructions.
  • Must understand and comply with all safety rules and company policies of Weatherford.
  • Perform various other duties and activities as assigned by supervisor within the physical constraints of the job.


  • 3-6 years of Mechanical, Structural, Mechatronics, or Manufacturing Engineering experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical, Structural Engineering or similar discipline from an accredited university.
  • Proficiency in CREO (Pro-E) proficiency or similar 3D CAD programs.
  • Willingness to travel locally and internationally as needed to support operations and manufacturing.
  • Excellent written and verbal English communication.

  • Oilfield operations experience
  • Artificial Lift Systems experience
  • Proficiency in structural design and analysis.
  • Failure analysis, technical support, or field trials experience.
  • Fabrication experience
  • Knowledge of various welding and machining methods
  • Proficiency in welded component design.
  • Proficiency in using PTC Windchill/PDM system.
  • Familiarity with API / EN machinery directives/ Canadian electric code.
  • Multi-lingual- English, Chinese and/or Spanish a plus
