IWS Integrated Applications Engineer performs all the well engineering activities within a project or Center of Excellence according to guidelines and processes set out in the IWS Management System, international and/or local standards and regulations and customer requirements. They will provide technical input to the well construction, completions, well intervention and abandonment phases, from the concept and tendering stage through project commencement, execution and project close out. During tendering phases, in addition to engineering work, the engineer will be supporting the commercial and procurement teams. During planning stages, the engineer interfaces with stakeholders to ensure safety, quality and cost effective job execution. The Integrated Applications Engineer ensures the well design and required calculations are prepared and supplied to the execution team.

As an Integrated Applications Engineer, you will be responsible for:

  • Ensure all engineering activities are in line with HSE policies and procedures, and drive HSE culture by setting example through safe work practices.
  • Conduct business according to Baker Hughes values
  • Participate in tender bid preparation process for well engineering input.
  • Participate in customer presentations & meetings (may include travel to other locations).
  • Preparation of well design, modeling and analysis of various drilling/completion/cleanout/intervention strings using engineering software such as JewelSuite Drilling Engineering and WellPlan, and operational procedures for construction, completion, intervention and/or abandonment of wells in area of responsibility.
  • Analysis of and recommendations to optimized workstrings and bottomhole assemblies of various types. This includes normal torque and drag analysis, workstring integrity, and bending loads.
  • Detailed modeling of fluid behavior with respect to downhole dynamic pressures with temperature corrected models, hole cleaning analysis, swab and surge pressure analysis relative to pressure limitations at zones of interest and split flow analysis for strings with circulation valves.
  • Addressing and confirming technical interfaces across multiple product line technical proposals are cohesive to ensure a total systems approach is maintained to well construction, intervention, or abandonment.
  • Prepare operational time and cost estimates and evaluate and revise customer's planned times.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders on project risks and mitigations. Lead risk and improvement meetings.
  • Populate operation specific risk registers and develop contingency plans to address specific project hazards as identified by the risk register.
  • Prepare and participate in peer reviews, peer assists and other quality assurance activities related to the project.
  • Evaluate the application and implementation of best practices and technological advancements to IWS operations.
  • Communicate effectively with project stakeholders as needed, and make recommendations to drive flawless service delivery and operational excellence as per approved plans.
  • Monitor technical and operations KPIs and benchmark against offset well data and pre-defined well objectives.
  • Participate in Root Cause Analysis investigations.
  • Prepare all technical reports related to the project including End of Well Report, after action reviews, lessons learned summary.
  • Comply with data management according to IWS procedures.
  • Keep abreast of technological and engineering process advancements through affiliation with professional societies and participation in networks, workshops, seminars and training courses

To be successful in this role you will need:

 

  • Bachelor's degree preferably in Petroleum Engineering or Mechanical/Chemical Engineering with MS in Petroleum/Oil & Gas or Well Engineering.
  • Proven years of relevant work experience in well construction, completions, intervention and/or optimization: the experience could include drill bits, BHA design, engineering simulations, field operations, preparation of programs/designs, or similar.
  • Interpersonal skills to work well with colleagues across all businesses/cultures, achieve objectives through effective influencing, and establish credibility with senior leaders.
  • Excellent analytics and problem-solving, including ability to form hypotheses and move forward in the absence of complete information.
  • Excellent English oral and written communication skills, including ability to synthesize complex topics into clear and simple messages.
  • MS office suite, power BI or other analytical tools, well engineering and design software (for example: hydraulics, torque and drag, basic casing design)


Desired Characteristics:

 

  • Previous relevant experience within product line applications engineering.
  • Experience working in integrated project teams.
  • Basic knowledge/exposure to specific applications: conventional rotary drilling, horizontal and/or multilateral wells, pad drilling, unconventional.
  • Well Control awareness
  • Geo-mechanics knowledge
