Overview / Responsibilities

Wood has an opportunity for a Project Engineer (Process Plant) to work on our Project Construction site near Gogama, ON with an international team during the construction phase of a Gold Mining Project. This role will be responsible for providing engineering and construction support on major EPC/EPCM projects.

Key Responsibilities

Assist the Process Area Project Manager with the management of EPCM performance specific to all activities planned for a project area by:
  • Coordinating the execution of engineering, contracts and procurement, construction and/or project controls activities for the area or a sub-area(s)
  • Ensuring that all required data and information for the area or a sub-area(s) is made available to the project team
  • Defining the scopes of construction, services and procurement contracts for the area or a sub-area(s)
  • Compiling construction contract packages and/or site services contract packages, if necessary
  • Participating in the selection of suppliers and contractors
  • Supporting the preparation and maintenance of the project schedule for the area or a sub-area(s)
  • Supporting the assessment of engineering, procurement and/or construction progress for the area or a sub-area(s) within the overall project schedule and identifying mitigations should actual and/or forecast schedule performance deviate from planned
  • Coordinating the preparation of periodic cost forecasts for the area or a sub-area(s) or for a specific contract
  • Identifying mitigations should actual and/or forecast costs deviate from planned
  • Participating in and coordinating the management of change process for the area or a sub-area(s) by informing the necessary parties and preparing the necessary change management documentation
  • Coordinating with and supporting home office for design changes
  • Participating in quality assurance audits
  • Providing input to the identification of risks and supporting the management of risks for an area or sub-area(s)


Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum of 10 years engineering or operations experience focusing on heavy industrial projects including at least 2 years in a project engineering role
  • Professional Engineering License (P. Eng) in the Province of Ontario or eligibility to register with the PEO will be an advantage
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment
  • Ability to work with people at all levels
  • Effective organizational skills and the ability to multi-task
  • Strong track record of successful project completion
  • Experience in Mineral Mining projects will be an advantage
  • The role will largely be site-based. Given this, applicants need to be familiar with standard camp accommodation and rules
  • Authorization to lawfully work in Canada without sponsorship from Wood is required
