Role Objectives:

  • Provide specialist advice and support to management and staff with reference to environmental management.
  • Monitor and EPR Permit Compliance for the site.
  • Ensure site environmental targets are achieved.

  • Ensure ongoing compliance with the requirements of the site's Environmental Permit, including periodic statutory reporting requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with appropriate industry national and international standards, including ISO 14001.
  • Provide specialist advice to both management and staff to raise environmental standards across the site.
  • Monitor any environmental incidents and exceedances, providing support for investigations and the implementation of improvement actions.
  • Maintain a positive relationship with the Environment Agency, with well-organised site interventions and formal correspondence.
  • Monitor environmental performance and ensure all environmental compliance submissions and reports are duly made.
  • Carry out audits to assess compliance with company policies, standards and procedures.
  • Maintain an up to date knowledge of the sustainability and energy efficiency agendas, advising site management on current and anticipated initiatives.
  • Undertake any other duties for which the responsibility, skill and experience required fall within a post holder's expected capability, and commensurate with the post holder's position in the company.

  • Knowledge of environmental legislation and practice.
  • Working knowledge and experience of effective environmental management in the chemical industry.

  • A recognised qualification in environmental management

  • Knowledge of sustainability
  • Experience/training in auditing
Education/Qualification Required

  • Preferably educated to degree level in a science, environmental or related discipline
  • Environmental management qualification
