Reporting directly to the Operations Manager you will be responsible for the day to day management of the engineering team and the engineering strategy for Hartlepool. The manufacturing process requires the support of a flexible and focused engineering team and it is expected that you will establish clear communication channels with all key stakeholders and play a key role within the Operations team. The position requires a common sense approach that balances a sense of urgency with a methodical, data driven, proactive approach. 
 

PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES/RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES

•Fulfil and promote Health and Safety requirements in your department and lead by example
•To ensure the safe and effective operation of machinery and equipment, buildings and premises within the framework of H&S and employment legislation
•Plan and Lead the Engineering department and its service to Manufacturing.  Routinely review and improve as required.
•Efficiently manage predictive and preventative maintenance programmes of work and Lead the response to any corrective repairs
•Coordinate and direct the installation, testing, maintenance and repair of facilities and equipment
•Motivate your team of engineers, leading by example and ensuring their long term development
•Achieve budgetary performance of cost control in the Engineering area
•Contribute to the long term operational development of the plant
•Develop and sustain a positive, continuously improving, customer focused culture at the plant

SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

•HNC or Degree equivalent in Engineering ( Mech, Elec or E/I ) would be advantageous
•At least 5 years experience of people management and development within engineering
•Good knowledge of regulated services (Water, Steam, Lifting, Fire, Electric)
•Data driven, PC literate to an advanced level and competent in data analysis with spreadsheets and maintenance systems
•Excellent problem solver, team builder and communicator both written and oral
•Good interpersonal skills and ability to direct and lead a strong team to outstanding performance
