The HSE, Crisis, and Quality Communications Lead, in partnership with senior business leaders, is responsible for overseeing communications activities, managing change initiatives, and supporting external activities to support the Health, Safety, and Environment, Security, and Quality function of Baker Hughes in achieving business targets. This role will also manage communications activities for the company's COVID-19 response and other crisis/ emergency response programs.

The successful candidate will be able to manage and influence multiple stakeholders and empathize with colleagues at all levels of the organization and across multiple cultures. He/she will need to build constructive and effective relationships and rapport with function leaders to create communications plans that connect function priorities to desired outcomes, in alignment with the broader Baker Hughes business strategy and priorities.

In addition, this role will be responsible for developing innovative and creative communications campaigns and managing related activities around the company's COVID-19 response. You will also create communications to support a broad range of potential crisis or emergency response situations and will lead/support communications for one or more of the company's crisis management teams.

This role will also work with the broader global communications team to partner on cross-functional communications initiatives and change management activities.

You will also support external engagement/positioning opportunities to help inform and drive thought leadership on themes related to the field (e.g. health, safety, and environment, crisis, and quality). Further, this role will manage communications operations, including tracking, measurement, and analysis of related communications, engagement, and change programs.

This is a communications generalist role requiring strong writing, creative content creation, project management, and prioritization skills - and keen attention to detail is imperative. The position requires an entrepreneurial and creative mindset with an ability to successfully navigate all aspects of corporate communications and thrive in times of uncertainty in a matrix, global organization. The right candidate must be able to bring quick thinking to act and execute quickly in high-pressure situations and have a curiosity for exploring new and contemporary communication approaches, channels, and measurement.

This role reports functionally to the HSE, Crisis, and Quality Communications Manager.

As an HSE, Crisis, and Quality Communications Lead, you will be responsible for:

  • Developing and executing comprehensive employee communications and change management plans/campaigns for the HSE, Security, and Quality function of Baker Hughes
  • Planning and executing internal events such as town hall meetings and supporting the functions communications operating rhythm.
  • Counselling leaders and key personnel on contemporary communications techniques and identifying the best channels to communicate to employees as well as demonstrate measures of success for such programs
  • Developing and/or serving as the lead writer for a broad range of communications such as publications, briefings, speeches, presentations, announcements, etc. for use with both internal and external audiences in support of the business strategy
  • Evolving and overseeing the function's communications channel strategy and ongoing maintenance and measurement of its respective communications channels
  • Creating and managing content for the company's COVID-19 and/or crisis/emergency response hubs
  • Driving storytelling for key activities, such as industry partnerships, awards, and key milestones, or other function initiatives as applicable
  • Maintaining digital calendar for promotional activities and communications aimed at various internal/external audiences
  • Partnering with Global Communications HQ, product companies, and regions to oversee tactical delivery of activities/campaigns
  • Driving the continuous modernization of employee experiences via digital, mobile, broadcast, online, print, and in-person channels to encourage two-way dialogue between employees and leadership
  • Continuously monitor, measure, and evaluate the effectiveness of communication efforts

Fuel your passion

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Fluent in written and spoken English
  • Bachelor's degree within communications from an accredited university or college
  • Minimum 7 years of experience in internal and external communications within a global organization.
  • Experience successfully influencing stakeholders and teams
  • Experience in leading communications in crisis or high-pressure situations
  • Demonstrated ability to create the strategy, develop and implement effective communications and change management campaigns
  • Strong experience in contemporary communications tools and techniques
