Our client is looking for a Lead Structural Engineer for a permanent position, located in Aberdeen.



As a Lead Structural Engineer, reporting to the Head of Structural & Civils, you will be responsible for overseeing the delivery of engineering modification projects across our Pod-based teams. This is a long-term position, and essential to contribute to our growth journey.   • Understand and translate our clients' requirements, provide definition to the resulting workscopes, and provide cost-effective and value-adding solutions
  • Provide technical input to engineering study, design, fabrication and construction phases of projects
  • Work effectively with other engineers and designers in developing designs, checking drawings and supporting the wider team
  • Assist in the preparation of scope of work documents and CTR estimates
  • Manage and monitor workscopes to agreed schedules and budgets
  • Prepare, check and approve calculations for steelwork modifications
  • Undertake and check appropriate analyses using relevant software (particularly STAAD.Pro)
  • Work to recognised industry codes, standards and client specifications
  • Check and approve design drawings, and other engineering deliverables, for steelwork modifications
  • Be able to make technical and engineering decisions associated with any given scope of work
  • Identify business improvements and contribute to their implementation
  • Constantly challenge 'the norm'
  • Provide support to the wider project team, including interfacing with clients and other stakeholders as required
  • Assist with input to bids and tenders
  • Strive to learn, develop and push boundaries
  • Contribute to the development of other engineering staff
  • Actively support the discipline Head in recruitment, selection, transfers/secondments and promotion of team members to meet succession and business objectives
  • Have proficiency in other relevant IT systems and software, including Microsoft Office
  • Deputise for the Head of Structural & Civils during times of absence



  • Chartered status with a relevant institution
  • Offshore certificates and ability to carry out surveys as required
  • Experience in brownfield structural engineering
