Our small and self-organizing teams employ Agile processes to create a high-performing software development environment. This position requires working with teams in San Luis Obispo, California and Houston, Texas with the opportunity to work out of either location. Remote work is also a consideration for the right candidate. This position entails working with some independence to perform coding, testing, and debugging of new software or enhancements to existing software for commercial software in the energy industry. The position will focus on enhancing and maintaining our industry- leading CygNet SCADA enterprise software.

Responsibilities

This position entails working with some independence to perform coding, testing, and debugging of new software or enhancements to existing software for commercial software in the energy industry. The position will focus on enhancing and maintaining our industry- leading CygNet SCADA enterprise software.

Software Developer Key Responsibilities:
  • Develops and maintains engineering software for use in the energy industry.
  • Provide high quality work in a timely manner with little direction from senior technical staff.
  • Analyze requirements and architecture to perform design and implementation of software applications.
  • Demonstrate understanding and adherence to the software development process.
  • Influence the technical direction of the team.
  • Employ software engineering methods and practices to create artifacts to support the implementation and support of software products.
  • Evaluate the existing implementation of a large, complex legacy system to determine and proceed with optimal resolution of issues and implementation of enhancements.
  • Resolves customer complaints with software and responds to suggestions for improvements and enhancements.
  • Support the creation of documentation and training material.


Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of C++ and/or C# and OOD/OOP
  • Experience in client/server development on MS Windows platform
  • Understanding of software engineering principles with the ability to translate requirements into design and design/analysis into code
  • Strong diagnostic skills to analyze, track, trouble-shoot, and solve problems
  • Ability to prioritize and perform work independently
  • Good interpersonal skills and ability to foster teamwork
  • BS Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent.
