Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for a Lead Operations Readiness Engineer with extensive experience in major upstream oil and gas projects. This role will be supporting one of our subsea projects based in our Staines office.

Purpose of role:

This role will start in FEED stage of project, and will progress into project execution to deliver the operations readiness scope and carry out operations readiness assurance to ensure project transition into fully function operations with all systems, processes and procedures in place prior to operating project.

The role of Lead Operations Readiness Engineer is to support the Operations Readiness Manager to deliver the systems and processes and operations management system ready for operations. The Lead Engineer will develop the Operational Readiness and assurance scope of work and plan for project. The Lead will support the execution of the ORA plan in the execute phase, to deliver all aspect of operations management system for operations as well as ensuring a proactive engagement with Project Team, Contractor's and various internal function's and liaison between all these stakeholder's.

Key responsibilities

Team Leadership and Development
  • Supports the Operations Readiness Manager in the role directing the Operation Readiness Assurance using ORAD deliverables and activities.
  • Take responsibility for various deliverables required for IGR, FID and and operations assurance during project execution.
  • Motivate and supervise ORA project team members and direct them to take positive action and accountability for their assigned work.
  • Interface between Operations, Engineering, Construction and Commissioning and Start-up as required.
  • Sets standards and clear expectations to ensure that all ORA team members are aligned.
  • Support and direct the Operations Readiness activities and proactively engage with Planner for any updates and actions deemed to be addressed by other functions.
  • Identify and resolve issues and conflicts within the ORA project delivery team - support the implementation of corrective actions and review mitigation and resolution activities.
  • Ensure risks are identified early and addressed in a timely manner.

Project delivery
  • The Lead Operations Readiness Engineer will support the Operation Readiness Manager in the entire scope of work that covers, subsea SURF and SPS equipment, Shallow Water Platform (Jacket and Topsides), Gas Production Pipeline and Onshore terminal, warehousing, spares management
  • Ensure successful completion of the operations readiness activties and operations readiness plan project work scopes and operations management framework within the budgeted time and cost constraints
  • Ensure operations is integrated with client operations functions and where sygeneries are aligned
  • Represent Operations at design reviews and workshops such as HAZOP, HAZID, SIL, Alarm Management, Operability review
  • Contributes to workshops, review, site visits and other activities as required by Project
  • Provide operations input into the Design and Operational Safety Case
  • Support the Project to Asset Handover strategy and process to align with Operations handover requirements
  • Provides technical leadership to a group of temporarily assigned engineers and technicians
  • Contributes to Interface management of critical interface between Project team., Contractor's and Operations
  • Support key technical interfaces to ensure that functional teams are proactively providing value and expertise
  • Directs preparation of Operational Readiness scopes (O&M procedures, Training, Production engineering etc) as required per Operations Management Framwork and Operation Readiness scope and assurance
  • Contributes to Commissioning & Start-up Start-Up procedures review and Systems Testing procedures
  • Contribute to punch lists built, acceptance documentation and technical queries.
  • Direct and lead closing the punch list actions before these are accepted by Operations
  • Develop project lessons learned and create recommendations report to identify successful and unsuccessful project elements

Skills / Qualifications

Relevant professional experience:
  • Experience in execution of offshore projects with multiple interfaces
  • Experience in Operation Readiness role (Operations or Maintenance) in a major project execution phase

Relevant professional skills:
  • Strong personal commitment to HSSE and Quality
  • Operational and Maintenance experience with previous leadership skills
  • Previous Subsea/Deepwater Operations experience is advantageous
  • Good knowledge of Operation and Maintenance standards
  • Pro-efficicient in Digital Twin programs and experience in tailoring new technologies to new assets
  • Communication and negotiation skills, managing large technical groups, interaction with authorities
  • Proven track record (demonstration of project engineering for major capital projects, can demonstrate leadership and motivation via influence)
  • Fluent in spoken and written English
