JOB SUMMARY
Work under the direction of the Driller as necessary to support on-going rig operations. Implement
and uphold safety and environmental compliance requirements. Operate rig floor equipment and
support systems under the direction of the Driller. Perform general rig floor house-keeping duties
and material preservation activities under the supervision of the Driller. Assist other personnel as
directed.

QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma or equivalent
2. Completion of Roustabout Training Course
3. Six months experience on a triple derrick rig

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Drilling Operations:
o Must have completed orientation process and be familiar with all company safety policies and
procedures as outlined in the safety handbook.
o Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned by the Driller during drilling, work over and
completion operations.
o Ensure the drill floor is kept clean and that all equipment is in its proper place.
o Ensure all operations are proceeding in a safe manner, and responsible for correcting or notifying
responsible person of any unsafe acts and/or conditions which exist.
o Attend and participate in pre-tour, post tour, special operations and weekly safety meetings.
o When required, work with casing, cementing, logging, and directional crews in performing
specialized operations related to down hole operations.
o During tripping operations work assigned duties:
o Make-up / break-out tong operator.
o Pipe tailer / stabber.
o Back-up tong operator.
o Pull and set slips.
o Make up and break out tool joints.
o Replace tong dies.
o Check and replace snub lines and break out lines as required.
o Inspect spinning wrench for proper and safe working order. Grease as required.
o Ensure air lubricator has required oil.
o Inspect chain.
o Inspect hanging line and counterweight assembly.
o Inspect snub line.
o Conduct mud viscosity and mud weight checks of the drilling mud at the shale shaker as required.

Maintenance Operations:
o Perform general duties around the rig which may include but not limited to the following:
o Perform housekeeping around the rig as required, such as keeping the rig floor clean and
clear of all tools after each trip.
o Keep BOPs washed down.
o Keep shale shaker and de-sander clean when in use.
o Perform necessary maintenance on the shale shaker.
o Keep drawworks and rotary lubricated.
o Become familiar with blowout and shut-in procedures.
o Visually inspect the drill string so as to report wash outs, excessive wear, joint or thread damage.
o May be required to do rig and equipment maintenance such as chipping, scraping, painting,
scrubbing, and cleaning.
o Safely and efficiently perform all duties assigned during maintenance operations.
o Assist in keeping the deck of the rig free of all unnecessary tools and equipment.
o Relieve the Derrickman as assigned in order to gain experience for promotion.
o Assist in maintaining the general appearance of the drilling rig.
