Data Science Engineer, Power BI Dashboard Development

Seeking a Data Science Engineer, Power BI expert with experience providing dashboard and analytics applications for scientists. The candidate should have a bachelor's degree in Computer/Computational Science or related discipline with experience in the full software development life cycle. This position will report to a Project Manager.



Understand the business processes and associated digital needs for assigned projects, which will include processing and visualizing diverse scientific biological data.

Build and maintain user-friendly dashboards and data analytics applications in close collaboration with our researchers and with our digital team.

Perform associated tasks including data architecture, data science, solutions design, documentation, and implementation, as well as continual communication to diverse stakeholder groups.

Requirements include knowledge, skills & experience in the following areas

Developing dashboards and data analytics applications including validation of business requirements, technical design, and implementation through test and rollout.

Software requirements collection & analysis, use cases, mock-ups.

Agile ways of working (Scrum, Kanban) and DevOps elements (e.g. unit tests, version control with GitLab, CI/CD pipelines, containerization).

Developing applications with Microsoft Power BI, including utilization of the DAX, M, and R languages, connecting Power BI to data repositories, and handling JSON structures.

Data modelling including conceptual, logical, and physical schemas, as well as with relational and NoSQL databases.

Advanced database queries for Oracle, SQL Server, MongoDB.

Aggregating complex data from multiple repositories to feed into visualization or analysis in a dashboard.

Authentication systems in both private and public clouds.

Utilizing APIs and clarifying any issues with the technical owners of the APIs.

Experience with bioscience research, such as bioinformatics, microbiology, or agriculture would be a plus.

Understand the current architecture and integrate the new platform into existing architecture

Set authentication on developer and user platforms

Job management/scheduling

Documentation of configuration of the new platform and support possibilities

Experience working with third-party IT services (TCS preferred)

Conducting User Acceptance test and assisting with roll-out
