Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for A Lead Offshore Pipeline Engineer to work on our Offshore Maintain Potential Program (OMPP) in Al-Khobar, Saudi Arabia We are looking for a person to co-ordinate with all other disciplines Consultant / Principal and / or Lead Engineers to ensure full compliance of the project design with the requirements specified on project design scope and on the relevant industry standards

OMPP is a multi-year, multi program venture covering both greenfield and brownfield offshore projects here in Saudi Arabia the scope of this program includes Engineering & Design, Procurement and Construction Management support

  • Ensure technical compliance, accuracy, quality and execution of all aspects of offshore pipeline design at conceptual, FEED and EPC / PMC level
  • Lead assigned engineers to provide the full range of pipeline services required in oil and gas projects at conceptual FEED and EPC / PMC level
  • Carry out, review, approve and/or supervise study and design work
  • Provide assistance to other disciplines and participate in review meetings, in accordance with Project requirements
  • Develop, review, and take responsibility for the accuracy of detailed calculations and deliverables such as tie-in spool and riser design, route selection, wall thickness design, on-bottom stability, spans analysis, pipeline expansion, on-bottom roughness, global buckling and cathodic protection design
  • Review and audit activity on projects and support internal development and continuous improvement activities as required
  • Support recruitment and performance appraisal activities within the group
  • Provide technical expertise and support to business development activities and proposal preparations
  • Develop pipeline installation, commissioning, operation and maintenance analysis and procedures
  • Development of specifications, data sheets, material requisitions and EPC scope of work
  • Review contracts, identify and understand Scope of Work & Gaps; Advise on corrective measures accordingly
  • Managing internal & external interfaces (Client, Inter-departmental, Engineering-Subcontractor & Vendors)
  • Identification of gap/conflicts amongst various project information, specifications/drawings & recommend corrective measures to ensure design integrity

Skills / Qualifications

  • Preferred: BSc Engineering in Instrumentation or equivalent
  • Required: 15 to 20 years in the Oil and Gas, Refining, or Chemical Industry with minimum 5 years Offshore
  • Brownfield / Greenfield, Study / Pre-FEED / FEED of Offshore Projects
  • Has experience in the oil / gas, hydrocarbon, refinery, offshore, or infrastructure industries and is recognized as specialist in a specific engineering field on large to mega projects
  • Must have thorough knowledge of engineering practices and economic principles, calculation methods, design details, international codes and standards, procedures, and specifications
  • Knowledge of IN tools / SPI 2013 Intergraph product including capability to prepare Instrument Sizing Calculations, Instrument Index, Specification Sheets and Cable Schedules
  • Knowledge of industry codes and standards applicable to Oil and Gas and Refining Industries (API, ISA, NEC / IEC, NFPA, ASME)
  • A good working knowledge of current industry specific technology and the application of current engineering software / tools
  • Strong computer and database skills preferred
  • Good communication and presentation
  • May be assigned as a Discipline Technical Authority (DTA); a person identified as an overall technically competent team member able to address technically complex issues & mentor team members with their technical work
  • May be assigned as a Subject Matter Expert (SME); a person recognized to possess a high degree of knowledge on a subject and / or piece of equipment
