Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for Senior Technology Engineer.
  • Execute assigned work in accordance with the applicable Project Procedures and Standards, including Foster Wheeler and / or Project Procedures on Safety and Quality Control, within the manhour and cost budgets, and the project schedule targets
  • Liaise with the Lead Technology Engineer regarding the interpretation of Client's Specifications and Standards
  • Write Job Specifications for design, noise control, materials, fabrication, and inspection of special equipment. Write Job Specification for piping quality control as required. Prepare specifications for purchase, installation, and inspection of internal protective coatings and refractory linings used in process equipment as required
  • Attend Engineering Review Meetings as required for assigned project. Become familiar with plant operation and search critical areas for potential design or fabrication problems. Solve problems or give advice as required. Write requisitions for special items as agreed with Lead Technology Engineer
  • Review Foster Wheeler and Vendor designs and specifications for major non - rotating equipment and piping
  • Coordinate the implementation of Client's noise control requirements. Make calculations and prepare designs, reports, and specifications as necessary. Review Vendors' designs and tests. Carry out or organize site tests. Requisition special equipment / silencers
  • Select materials of construction and methods of corrosion control in conjunction with Process Engineering Department or review Client's selection. Issue and maintain up to date the Materials Selection Diagrams. When acceptable to the Client, conduct corrosion spool tests in selected units for which service corrosion data is limited
  • Review and comment on welding / fabrication procedures. Check for compliance with Client's specifications and suitability for the equipment covered
  • Participate in bid review of major equipment and piping fabrication
  • Attend pre - order meetings with Vendors of important equipment and visit selected Vendors works for review of Vendors fabrication practices
  • Investigate and solve operational and fabrication problems of a mechanical design, vibration, noise control, metallurgical, welding, and / or inspection nature
  • Review heavy lifts. Assist Construction Department with lifting problems, as required
  • Advise the Lead Technology Engineer of major slippages and their causes and proposed corrective action, policy matters, major technical problems, and unresolved differences with other Groups and requests for changes by the Client which may constitute a contract change
  • Liaise with other Groups and Client as required:
    • With the Process Design, Mechanical Equipment, Project Engineering, Piping, and Heat Exchanger Groups in relation to materials of construction, welding procedures, piping design, noise, etc.
    • With the Project Co - ordinating Engineer on matters of project co - ordination and programme, plant safety, and work scope that could constitute a contract change
    • With the Client's Specialist Engineer on technical matter


Skills / Qualifications

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Metallurgy or Mechanical Engineer
  • Working Experience in ONE of the following fields:
    • Material selection and corrosion
    • Welding and NDE (non - destructive examination)
    • Painting / Coating and insulation
  • Past experience as listed above, the applicant should have direct experience of at least 3.5 years for junior position and 8 - 10 years for senior position
