Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting for an Operations Lead with extensive experience in the oil and gas petrochemical industry to be based in our Staines office.
  • Manages a team to provide support for safe and efficient Operations to meet our clients overall goal objectives
  • Manage EICT maintenance budgets including cost reduction initiatives
  • Owner of the Maintenance strategies for Instrumentation, Control, Electrical and Telecoms
  • Drives change by encouraging innovative thinking and continuous improvement.
  • Provides leadership by responding resourcefully, flexibly, and positively when faced with new challenges and demands.
  • Drive assurance activities such as LOPA, SIL Assessment, F&G Mapping Study, Cause and Effect (C&E) Review, Alarm Management Workshop, CCR & Equipment Room Layout Reviews and Electrical Safety Review (SAFOP)
  • Ensures Electrical, Instrumentation Control and Telecoms systems and equipment conformity with Petrom's standards and philosophies.
  • Own and manage the following Management Plans: Hazardous Area, Functional Safety, Cybersecurity, Small Bore Tubing, Fire & Gas, and Alarm Management
  • Manages all activities of EICT maintenance ensuring safe operations including resourcing, cost and safety.
  • Support the development of and manages the level of performance of EICT equipment for which maintenance services are being continuously provided, keeps historical reports regarding breakdowns, identifies and analyses problems or improvement needs and proposes plans for improvement.
  • Own the Performance Standards and SCE's for Fire & Gas, Safety Systems, Emergency Shutdown and Essential Power Generation in operations
  • Act as a client's representative in design meetings with consultants and contractors and suggest solutions and recommendations for all Electrical, Instrumentation Control and Telecoms systems and equipment
  • Manages all sparing levels including Obsolescence strategies relating to Electrical, Instrumentation Control and Telecoms systems and equipment;
  • Be aware of Romanian, European standards and practices in design, engineering and maintenance in oil and gas industry;
  • performs technical audits based on the Department's audit schedule;
  • provides support to Operations Manager in coordinating with Human Resources/training responsible for arranging needed technical training for personnel;
  • ensures data privacy according to Petrom procedures;
  • ensures an efficient management of resources, assets, (reusable) energy and the proper use of these;


Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree in Engineering (Instrument, Automation or Electrical) or equivalent relevant qualification
  • Chartered engineer status with an accredited engineering organisation
  • Registered Functional Safety Engineer
  • Experience in oil and gas or petrochemical industries with a minimum of 15 years Operations experience.
  • Previous experience of commissioning green or brownfield installations in an Operations and Maintenance support role
  • An in-depth Process Safety knowledge including Hazardous Area
  • An in-depth knowledge of safety system lifecycle management
  • Previous experience as a Technical Authority
  • Contract management relating to Instrument, Control, Electrical and Telecoms vendors.
  • Experience in recruiting, staffing and mentoring Engineers
  • good interpersonal and analytical skills;
  • good knowledge of English (written and spoken);
