Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently seeking to recruit a Senior Mechanical / Project Engineer in Al-Khobar office, Saudi Arabia with extensive experience of Boilers in the oil and gas and petrochemical industries. The role will involve overseeing a boiler contractor carrying out modifications to an existing boiler's fuel system
  • Responsibility for all boiler related technical issues and deliverables at all stages of the design process
  • Review of mechanical data sheets, specifications and requisitions for Boiler components
  • Review of technical bid evaluation produced by EPC contractor for boiler components
  • Review of vendor documentation for boilers
  • Dealing with EPC contractor's waiver requests and requests for information related to boilers
  • Responsible for Subcontract Requisitions
  • Technical evaluation / clarification of boiler vendor bids, plus the technical bid evaluation reports to support order placement
  • Review of Process Data Sheets, P&ID's, etc., multi-discipline and Supplier documentation for integration within Project design
  • Project technical support and familiarity with risk assessments, design reviews, constructability and HAZOPs, etc
  • Support to Quality in terms of development of inspection and test plans and attendance during inspection and testing as necessary
  • Review and verification of equipment supplier's engineering, as well as support during the installation, testing and commissioning of equipment
  • Management of supplier designs and act as focal point for control of supplier interfaces, including the co-ordination of multi-discipline engineering interfaces
  • Execution of activities against project schedule and budgets
  • Execution of work demonstrating commitment to safety and quality


Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Minimum 12 years experience within the petrochemical and / or oil and gas industry of which 8 years must be in Design Contractor environment related to Boilers
  • Experience of Refinery / Petrochemical Industries in specification, selection, testing and handling design issues of all equipment associated with boiler packages in major projects
  • Previous experience in the execution of FEED and EPC Projects
  • Previous experience of site installation and commissioning of boilers
  • Flexible attitude, with good written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to effectively work and communicate within a multi-cultural environment
  • Computer literate with Microsoft office
  • Chartered Engineer or actively working towards achieving Chartered status
