Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Applied Intelligence (AI) in Woking are seeking an experienced Project Engineering Manager to facilitate work on a multi - projects program of works.

Key responsibilities
  • Leadership of the WOOD Technical Team with oversight of end - to - end design and technology integrity
  • Review's client specifications, project proposals and plan to determine timeframe, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project
  • Sets, maintains, and reports on project evaluation parameters (Technical KPIs) in alignment with client requirements
  • Liaison with WOOD Project Management Team and Clients representatives to ensure Engineering alignment with project schedules and targets
  • Supports Project Manager in negotiating changes to project scope or specification with the client
  • Establishes and maintains a positive and effective relationship with the Client, Wood, suppliers, and subcontractors
  • Line management duties such as workforce planning, interviews, IR35 assessments, appraisals, and performance management
  • Co - ordination and assignment of work - related tasks to supervisors and engineers to action and progress work items according to project schedules
  • Establishes and maintains Technical Change Management Process to control to identify and approve scope, budget specification and schedule modifications
  • Establishes project engineering procedures and prepares project Engineering plan including the scope of work, deliverables list, methodologies, risks, etc. in alignment with regulatory and project requirements
  • Regularly reports project progress to project management team and / or the client
  • Responsible for provision of engineering deliverables to agreed schedule and performance indices
  • Ensures consistency of design across multiple projects within the program of works through use of "Design Typicals" or "Templates" and guidelines
  • Ensure stable and secure design, development, installation, and commissioning of systems
  • Engage necessary SMEs and other technical experts on key technology and / or strategic decisions integrating the key technology areas
  • Responsible for ensuring project team members are competent to carry out assigned duties
  • Pro - actively intervenes to avoid HSSE, Quality, Cost and Schedule issues
  • Promotes and sets up performance improvement culture
  • Foster open, inclusive, fair, and collaborative working environment respecting diversity of opinions and contributions


Skills / Qualifications

  • Qualified to degree level in a relevant engineering discipline
  • Significant years' experience of Automation within Oil & Gas or Process Industries
  • Good level of experience in a technical leadership role
  • Demonstrable background in design, development, and implementation of large - scale Brownfield industrial Automation systems
  • Broad technical knowledge combined with excellent problem - solving skills
  • Self - motivated individual, capable of both leading a team and working within a team environment
  • Excellent communicator with the ability to drive consensus through clear communications
  • Excellent leadership skills to manage multi - discipline teams across multiple locations
  • Ability to visualize and consolidate disparate technology issues with project delivery issues across multiple teams
