Technical Product Champion

This position contributes to Halliburton's success by assuming end-to-end responsibility for the strategic value, usability, performance, and continual evolution of our petrotechnical data API platform. Under broad direction, responsible for driving global business line integration and accelerating the pace of innovation necessary to satisfy customer's growing digital expectations.

Job Responsibilities
  • Provides technical advice about the current state of the technology and its future direction.
  • Evaluates emerging technologies and market trends in the industry and in general, and recommends new technologies to invest in.
  • Engages global business lines and external customers in to understand and anticipate future-state requirements.
  • Participates with management, product line, and customers in developing new technologies and platform capabilities.
  • Provides a strong technical focus and risk assessment in product planning for a complete, end-to-end solution.
  • Define success criteria for testing and product acceptance.
  • Ensures data quality, information security and governance are part of design, implementation, and ongoing operation.
  • Facilitate the creation and maintenance of proper product documentation.
  • Provide internal and external customer training on how to use the product and its capabilities.
  • Prepares and presents technical reports, project briefings, and customer presentations.
  • Maintains communications with external technology efforts such as industry and academic consortia.
  • This person should sit on one or more industry groups and standards organizations.

  • Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or similar discipline.
  • Minimum of 7 years of related experience.
  • Experience with REST-based APIs, message streaming, JSON documents, XML schemas, and general API management.
  • Experience with agile development methodologies and tools such as Azure DevOps.
  • Familiarity with conducting unit tests and analyses for software development, verification, and validation.
  • Strong written and oral communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Must be detail oriented and self-motivated that can work independently and collaboratively.
  • Upstream Oil & Gas domain knowledge beneficial, but not required, especially experience in real-time data management, industry-specific data exchange standards and protocols, and remote wellsite operations.
  • Candidates having qualifications that exceed the minimum job requirements will receive consideration for higher-level roles given (1) their experience, (2) additional job requirements, and/or (3) business needs. Depending on education, experience, and skill level, a variety of job opportunities might be available from Technical Product Champion, Senior Product Champion up to Principal Product Champion.
