Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for a Senior API Process Engineer with minimum 10 years working experience to work within our Process Engineering department to support a number of projects in the pharmaceutical engineering sectors at our Office in Basel.
  • Carry out Process Design of chemical synthesis API plants according to GMP, developing user requirements, layouts, mass and energy balances, functional sizing of equipment, flow - sheets (P&ID's), functional specifications, etc.
  • Process coordination during design from "conceptual design" to plant commissioning and validation

Requirements:
  • Leadership, interest and orientation to coordination of teams working on projects, result orientation, inter - personal relationship, critical sense and entrepreneurial spirit
  • Knowledge of problems and functional / mechanical characteristics of process / process support equipment for chemical and pharmaceutical industry
  • Interest to directly interface with client personnel
  • Knowledge or interest to go deeper into technologies / equipment of healthcare / life science technologies or equipment
  • Attitude to development of innovative competences like:
    • Multipurpose Batch processing
    • Continuous processing
    • High containment
    • Sustainability
    • Process simulation
  • Knowledge of off all chemical synthesis unit operations is preferred
  • Strong sense of health and safety within the working environment and in the design process, and willingness to contribute to maintain the highest of standard
  • Contribution to producing deliverables and undertaking activities. The work will be based on a schedule and will require understanding, control and reporting of quality and man hours spend
  • Producing deliverables and executing activities according to standards, specifications and procedures
  • Contribute and participate to work in an enthusiastic manner, working to the requirements of quality and environmental management systems
  • Contribution to the identification and control of change


Skills / Qualifications

  • Degree in Chemical Engineering MSc
  • 10+yearsof process design experience in API bulk pharmaceutical plant via chemical synthesis and chemical industries
  • Competence on typical process units, clean utilities, plant utilities design
  • Experience on process safety and risk assessments
  • Experience in different design phases (Feasibility Studies / Conceptual Design / Basic Design / Detailed Design / Procurement / Follow - up)
  • Competence in using simulation software such as Aspen / Hysis or similar ones
  • Leadership skills to manage process teams and ability to collaborate with the project team members, consultants, suppliers and client entities
  • Clear understanding of interactions between process design activities and other engineering disciplines activities
  • Fluency in German, English and possibly in Italian
