My client in the Chemicals sector are recruiting for an Oversized Shipments Manager to be based in Krakow on a long term contract basis. Rates negotiable. EU Candidates only.


The Module and Oversize Transportation Manager will bring modular project experience and expertise to the Module Engineering Team and to the Logistics team based in Krakow. He/she will provide leadership to the logistic personnel in the Centers and will ensure the development, selection and implementation of competitive logistics solutions for modular plant projects as well as oversized equipment.

During the proposal phase, he/she will develop the Transportation & Logistics Plan including but not limited to:

  • Plan for handling movement of all modules, oversized equipment, and materials from major sources of supply,
  • Take responsibility for organising and securing the approval of the marine transport conditions of heavy / OOG equipment by a Marine Warranty Surveyor,
  • Approve the transport drawings for all modules / oversized equipment,
  • Conduct a transportation route and accessibility study at an early stage of project development to define the constraints of module configuration commonly known as the transportation envelope. The results of the study will provide required information for defining the modules concept, basic and detailed engineering design,
  • Will participate in defining the requirements for cargo lifting and sea fastening including a concept of grillage and lashing,
  • Will liaise with the Module Engineering Team to establish the most competitive solution / support the optimization of total cost of modules (design) and transportation to final destination.

During the execution phase he/she will organize the technical requisition for the Modules Transportation Bidding and follow up with the technical clarification with the transportation companies.

He/she will be responsible for the evaluation of the most suitable technical solution and the selection of the most economic logistics and transportation service providers to improve project competitiveness in both costs and schedule. He/she will define crucial transport operations that need to be budgeted in projects including costs of additional services from marine warranty surveyors, transport engineering providers.etc. He/she will be a focal point in communication among the client's module engineering team and external parties for technical and safety matters in oversized transportation.

He/she will support the project logistic manager and project logistic coordinators during project execution and will document capitalization actions for continuous improvement.


Key responsibilities:

  • Develop and launch logistics strategies in line with the requirements of modular projects,
  • To create logistics concepts for oversized shipments in accordance with the project requirements with respect to time, quality, performance, reliability, scope and budget, safety,
  • Provide realistic, competitive, complete budgetary logistics estimates for modular projects,
  • Keep logistics costs within budgets during transport execution,
  • Search for more economical and technically feasible solutions,
  • Evaluate logistics providers and select the best ones,
  • Provide flawless and continuous execution of logistics operations,
  • Capitalization of modular project experiences,
  • Contribute to company's competitiveness improvement programs,
  • Build and maintain a portfolio of qualified Logistics service providers for oversize cargo and modules,
  • Support the logistics team with his/her expertise, coach the logistics personnel, develop and maintain competencies and ensure know how for modules is available,
  • Monitor performance through establishment of KPIs, goals, improvement plans, reviews and reporting.

Reporting line & localisation:

  • The Logistics and Transportation Specialist will report to the Head of Transport and Logistic E&C Krakow Center.
  • This role is located in Krakow - Poland.

Competencies and Profile:

  • Bachelor degree or above (desirable Transport & Logistics, Engineering and Marine),
  • Transporting of Large Modular Industrial Projects (Route survey, loadout, unload, and transport),
  • Proven experience to have carried out a Module Logistic Coordinator or similar in at least in 3 Large Modular Projects,
  • Knowledge of Transportation grillage & sea fastening requirements,
  • Experience with Marine Warranty Surveyors,
  • Knowledge of Inco-terms and international trade principles,
  • Fluent English,
  • Knowledge of Transport regulations and laws,
  • Reading technical drawings, technical documentation,
  • Experience with managing and leading a team.
