Overview / Responsibilities

Wood Environment & Infrastructure Solutions has an exciting opportunity for an Utility Coordination Manager interested in playing a key role in relocation/coordination projects for TxDOT. This position can be located in Dallas, Houston, Austin, or San Antonio, TX. This is a fantastic opportunity for a seller/doer who has experience building a strong team, developing Client relationships and is focused on career and professional development.

The Utility Coordination Manager responsibilites will include:

  • Working on utility relocation/coordination projects for TxDOT
  • Identifying and resolving utility conflicts in the most feasible and time sensitive manner
  • Continual coordination with client and utility owners to ensure project schedules are met
  • Designing and reviewing utility relocation plans to be in compliance with federal state and local laws and regulations, by becoming well versed with the interpretation of TXDOT's Utility Accommodation Rules, TXDOT's Utility Manual, TXDOT's Roadway Design Manual and TXDOT's Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (TMUTCD)
  • Manages the development of Subsurface Utility Engineering plans and test hole data sheet
  • Inputting utility information into MicroStation creating Utility Layouts, creating plans sheets for design of utility relocation
  • Develops and manages scope, schedule and budget for utility projects
  • Maintains relationship with existing client and works with company leadership to identify and obtain future opportunities

Skills / Qualifications

  • 8+ years of experience as a utility coordinator on state DOT projects or comparable experience working for utility companies
  • 8+ years of experience in preparing agreements for relocating utilities in accordance to local, state and federal utility accommodation processes and practices
  • 8+ years of supervisory experience of projects and personnel preferred
  • Must be able to demonstrate strong communication and negotiation skills
  • BS/BA and/or equivalent experience
  • State DOT pre-certifications to function as a Utility Coordination task lead
  • Position requires strong communication skills, scheduling, problem solving skills and presentation skills
  • Ability to simultaneously perform, track, prioritize, and coordinate challenges across multiple projects, multiple utility owners and professionals
  • Situational problem-solving abilities with various utility engineering circumstances and with multiple stake holders
  • TxDOT Utility related Precertifications, or the ability to obtain in 6 months
  • Proficient in MS Office

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Professional Engineer license (TX preferred)
  • Proficient in MicroStation, Knowledgeable of GEOPAK
  • Exposure to OpenRoads, OpenUtilities
