Overview / Responsibilities

Wood currently has an opportunity for Mechanical Turnaround Planners in our St. John's, NL office.

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
  • Review open work orders and identify / validate / challenge shutdown requirements
  • Identify opportunities to execute scope outside of the Turnaround
  • Actively participate in the work selection and refinement processes
  • Detailed planning for individual work orders ensuring the following items are identified:
  • Detailed planning of the individual steps required to execute the scope including pre-Turnaround, Turnaround & post-Turnaround activities
  • Ensure all materials are attached to the work order
  • Create external service order(s) for any Vendors & equipment call-offs
  • Identify resources required including obtaining estimates for executing the scope
  • Identify temporary equipment requirements for execution of the scope
  • Site visits to offshore to engage field personnel, scope work, and ensure alignment on execution strategy
  • Develop work packs for Turnaround scopes and group into logical execution packages
  • Generate work permits for field execution
  • Participate in the development of safety & rescue plans as required
  • Provide input into any temporary system configurations required to support execution in the field
  • Engage Operations in development of isolation plans
  • Participate in cross-functional discipline reviews, hazard identification & risk assessments
  • Participate in detailed reviews of operability, reliability, and life cycle maintenance
  • Provide input into the Turnaround Integrated schedule and assist in developing the logic to ensure dependencies are identified
  • Participate in SIMOPS / scope optimization / lean-thinking workshops
  • Provide input into the crane utilization, deck management, logics & disposal plans
  • Provide input into the POB management plan
  • Provide support to other Turnaround team members based on expertise
  • Ensure all costs associated with the Turnaround are identified as per the agreed process
  • Serve as the key maintenance contact for resolving any issues between Turnaround and maintenance personnel
  • Stewardship of specific discipline work lists to ensure only endorsed scope is included
  • Liaise with Turnaround Planners and the Turnaround Manager to optimize plans, reduce costs, and set schedules
  • Provide status updates on scope development and input into the plan-for-plan to ensure key milestones are on track to being completed

Other activities as deemed necessary to plan & safely execute the Turnaround work scope

Skills / Qualifications

Candidates should possess the following qualifications:
  • 10+ years of applicable Operations experience within the oil and gas industry
  • Experience in developing scope and planning activities for Turnarounds
  • Strong understanding of implementation principles and objectives
  • Preference of experience with offshore production platforms
  • Capable of reading, understanding and interpreting engineering and vendor drawings and documentation
  • Ability to understand and recognize potential problems during construction and commissioning
  • Proven organizational, planning and cost management skills
  • Competency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Preferred candidates to possess Mechanical Trade - Journeyperson or Technical Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills, and abilities have been achieved may also be considered
