Overview / Responsibilities

Wood's Resilient Environments International team are seeking a Senior Solar Site Inspector / Consultant to join our Renewable Energy team. We can be flexible on location for the right candidate across our network of UK offices (Bristol, London, Reading, Glasgow, Newcastle, Shrewsbury, Leamington Spa, Birmingham, Knutsford).

Responsibilities:
  • Work closely with Wood's renewable energy team
  • Inspect solar sites and check compliance of the works against design documentation, specifications and good practice
  • Support in the review of safety plans and reports
  • Assist in interpreting statements of the results of the site investigations
  • Review commissioning documentation including procedures, plans and factory/site test reports
  • Assess construction works and progress according to the Project specifications and requirements
  • Monitor overall construction progress against the project schedule
  • Monitor quality assurance and record deviations
  • Monitor health and safety performance
  • Monitor environmental management
  • Highlight technical issues as they occur and advise on their actual or potential impact
  • Participate in meetings with the site manager and other key staff both internal and external to Wood
  • Prepare client facing project reports
  • Support delivery of wider Wood services related to renewable energy projects by providing technical advice based on knowledge of good construction practice and experience


Skills / Qualifications

Key Skills:
  • Knowledge of civil, electrical and mechanical engineering design basis statements, datasheets and specification, warranties, certification, design calculations, power system study reports, etc
  • Project Management Skills
  • Excellent IT skills
  • The ability to work within budgets and to deadlines
  • A comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulations
  • Understanding of:
    • Construction drawings
    • PV Solar plant architecture and functionality
    • Electrical systems
    • Protection systems
    • Commissioning of electrical systems
    • Risk assessments and method statements
    • Environmental management plan
    • Transport management plan

Soft Skills:
  • Stakeholder management capabilities
  • Self-initiative
  • Great organizational skills
  • The ability to explain design ideas and plans clearly
  • Confident decision-making ability
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Good team-leading skills

Qualifications:
  • Previous post graduate experience in solar construction projects
  • UK drivers license
