Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for Lead Pipeline Engineer to work on the engineering and project management services in Al - Khobar office

  • Report to the Pipelines Discipline Manager, the main functions of the role will be to execute designing and drafting activities
  • Execute the assigned design and drafting activities following the instructions given by the Lead Pipelines Engineer in accordance with the quality system in force within the Discipline, job requirements, and time schedule
  • Participate in the preparation of FEED & Detailed Design drawings of onshore oil & gas flowlines, trunk lines and pipelines
  • Read, review and apply Site Topographical Survey drawings and data
  • Perform preparation of Pipeline Design Basis Reports, Pipeline EPC scope of work, Materials Specifications, Pipeline Routing Philosophies, Pipeline Material Data Sheets and Requisitions, Material Take Off (MTO)
  • Prepare Pipeline Design calculations such as Population Density / Area Classification Studies, Pipeline stress calculations, Wall Thickness Calculations, Road and Railway Crossing Calculations, Ground Mechanic Calculations, and Upheaval Buckling Calculations
  • Review and provide engineering input / guidance for Overall Routing Maps and Layouts, Plot Plans, Pipeline Alignment sheets, LUP (Land Used Permission), Plants and Scraper Stations approach drawings, Pipeline ROW and Trench sections & details
  • Review and provide engineering input / guidance for typical drawings of Scraper Launchers & Receivers, Line Valve Stations, Tie-In sections and details, and Cathodic Protection
  • Review and provide engineering input / guidance for typical Crossing Drawings for Highways, Asphalt Roads, Railways, Camel Roads, Wadis, Third Party Pipelines, cables and Overhead Lines and Detailed drawings for crossings with trenchless technologies
  • Provide quality control checks of all pipeline engineering documents and drawings
  • Thorough Knowledge of relevant International Standards, especially ASME B31.4 & ASME B31.8
  • Familiar with Saudi Aramco pipeline detail engineering standards including spacing, accessibility, operation, maintenance, crossings and right of way (ROW) requirements
  • Verify that all designs are to required standards and that the objectives of the project are met
  • Carry out study and design work using Company and Client design methods, standards and data, to a high quality and in accordance with project requirements
  • Ensure that all the produced deliverables are complied with Company QA/QC and ISO System requirements
  • Perform all assigned work to agreed standards for safety, health environment and demonstrate a commitment to attaining high levels of HSE (Health, Safety & Environment) performance
  • Provide assistance to other disciplines and participate in review meetings (if requested), in accordance with project requirements

Skills / Qualifications

  • Minimum of a bachelor's degree in mechanical / Civil / or Chemical Engineering from an accredited Institute
  • 12+ years of onshore upstream and downstream pipelines experience, preferably in the Middle East
  • Proven track record in pipelines FEED and Detailed Design experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook and PowerPoint is required Experience in the use of pipeline design software (AutoCAD, MicroStation, Google Earth Pro Maps, CAESAR II)
  • Thorough knowledge of International Standards ASME B31.4 & ASME B31.8Familiar with Saudi Aramco Engineering Standards
  • Highly motivated, well organized, resourceful and proactive
  • Possess good interpersonal skills with sound written and oral communication skills Flexible approach and able to work under pressure with a can-do attitude and a desire to win
  • Ability to promote an open and informal communication environment that aims at growing mutual trust and teamwork
