Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is recruiting for R&M Journeymen Experience with racking and or panel installation is preferred. Wood has Solar Power projects in Virginia (Louisa, Chase City, Emporia, & other sites to follow). Reporting to Foreman and Supervisor. Working closely with other co-workers on un-even terrain. Must be able to work in extreme weather conditions

Preferred mechanical ability experience. Must have the ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation. The level and degree of job responsibilities and requirements vary depending on months of experience

Work within precise limits or standards of accuracy. Apply shop mathematics to solve problems. Use logical step-by-step procedures in work. Plan work and select proper tools. Compare and see differences in the size, shape and form of lines, figures and objects. Visualize objects in three dimensions from plans and drawings. Make decisions based on measurable criteria. Perform a variety of duties which may change often. Operate hand tools, power tools and machinery. May be required to work at heights without fear

Skills / Qualifications

  • Experience in basic mechanical installations
  • General construction and ladder work
  • Ability to lift and support heavy objects up to 50lbs. in a repetitious pace for a schedule work day
  • Must have good communication skills
  • Good at problem solving and implementing ideas
  • Must have experience with all types of hand-held and power tools
  • Must be capable of working in extreme weather conditions
  • Must be capable of passing project testing requirements
  • Use effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Be capable of listening and communicating with other supervision and employees
  • Be motivated and work safely and productively
  • Understand and respond accordingly to all safety alerts, warnings, hazard
  • OSHA 10 verified certification is preferred

  • May be required to lift and carry items weighing no more than 50 pounds
  • Must possess enough strength and stamina to perform the technical duties and essential functions as identified above
  • Must be able to move in and around confined spaces and uneven areas
  • Must have full range of motion
  • May be required consistently to work 12-hour shifts performing construction-based labor in varying temperature extremes and conditions
  • Required to work 48 hours per week, on occasion working more OT up to 12 hours on single shift
  • Must be able to adequately hear and respond to voice commands, alerts, and alarms
  • Visual acuity and depth perception consistent with that required to work at heights and on uneven surfaces, differentiate between colors on signage, and perform essential duties of position\
  • Frequently - Standing, Walking, Squatting, Kneeling, Bending, Twisting, Climbing, Occasionally - Crawling
