OPERATIONS ENGINEER

Our client, a leader in the offshore telecommunication market, is hiring an Operations Engineer for its Gulf of Mexico operations.

Candidates must be a US citizen or a Green Card holder - no exceptions!

The Operations Engineer, part of the Network Operation Center (NOC) Team, will monitor and respond to network performance issues, coordinate jobs, and dispatch technical resources to ensure industry leading customer service. This position directs all field service activities for the company reports directly to the Network Operations Manager with the authority to monitor, evaluate, and manipulate the communications network through troubleshooting efforts. The role also has the authority to dispatch resources to support network performance and customer requests.


Responsibilities and tasks:

 

  • Monitor, manage, and manipulate the network to ensure performance
  • Proactively analyze data from performance systems, investigate anomalies, resolve or escalate findings
  • Assist in the development of proactive network management mentality and software
  • Assist in the development and analysis of network performance KPIs
  • Execute operational procedures, update documentation and performance systems
  • Troubleshoot network problems accurately
  • Stay up to date on the evolving network technologies
  • Ensure team availability through scheduling
  • Interact with customers and troubleshoot issues
  • Escalate network outages
  • Provisioning and testing of services
  • Assist in troubleshooting and restoration of network
  • Follow change control processes for network
  • Maintain network security
  • Lead or participate in after action reviews of network performance
  • Interact in projects with commissioning of infrastructure systems
  • Provide leadership, guidance, and support to team members
  • Represent Company as a technical expert as needed
  • Actively comply, enforce, and participate in Company HSEQ policies and procedures
  • Perform other technical tasks within his/her area of expertise

 

Qualification Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's degree in Telecom or Computer Science
  • 4+ years' experience in IP/MPLS networks
  • 3+ years' experience in Gulf of Mexico communications environment
  • Good logistical experience in and around the Gulf South
  • Strong analytical skills for troubleshooting communications networks
  • Adept at changing priorities
  • Strong accountability for network performance
