Our Client is looking for a Logistic Specialist - International, on a 12 month contract basis, location in Aberdeen.

ROLE

The Logistics Specialist - International is responsible to oversee, ensure control of & advise on all company international freight movements, in line with compliance with local/international legal and other statutory regulations as well as company policy. Scope is specific to the geographical coverage for which the Logistics Specialist has been employed.The Logistics Specialist - International will report to Geozone Logistics & Distribution Manager.

RESPONSIBILITIES

SAFETY & COMPLIANCE

  • Maintains safety and service quality as immediate priorities when working across all areas of the business
  • Maintains the highest standards of corporate governance, ensuring that all activity is carried out ethically and in compliance with Company policies, relevant laws, regulations, standards and industry practices

OPERATIONAL CAPABILTY

  • Contribute to Development & implementation of logistics, customs and compliance procedures, processes & policies in line with regional and global initiatives
  • Create & obtain all shipping documentation including Commercial Invoices, Shippers letter of instruction, Dangerous Goods Notes, Certificates of Origins, Import / Export Entries and any other related documents where required
  • Managing shipments using TMS, and other systemic resources and tools available
  • Lead on-going efforts for establishing and sustaining continuous process improvement
  • Carry out audits on Freight Forwarder invoices as per the Global Trade Compliance guidelines
  • Support Tendering activities, when requested, for international freight movement matters, including but not limited to lead times/costs/duties/exemptions/licenses available.
  • Monitor international movement & activities within the geographical scope employed for, including ensuring proper licensing for all exports while maintaining proper documentation of export licenses and/or license exceptions used by the location
  • Ensure any export discrepancies are fully investigated and the appropriate notification is sent to line manager for action
  • Maintain a professional demeanor and attitude
  • Ensure that all monthly statutory & KPI reporting requirements are processed in a timely manner, with a high degree of accuracy
  • Participate in meetings/discussions with various internal departments to ensure suitable arrangements are in place for all company shipments locally, nationally and internationally
  • Undertaking any required training to a satisfactory level of achievement
  • Any other delegated responsibilities as instructed by Line Management within the timeframe specified in a safe and efficient manner to meet business requirements, provided the instruction is reasonable and you are capable and deemed competent to fulfil these

CLIENT COMMUNICATION

  • Engage with internal client representatives to address client concerns and complaints when linked with poor delivery performance either in terms of schedule or quality of customer service, condition of equipment
  • Update on day-to-day shipping operations with internal stakeholders and external clients/vendors

FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE

  • Basic understanding of financial key performance indicators

REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business, Logistics or Supply Chain Management
  • Proficiency in use of personal computers, Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, Visio and PowerPoint) and e-mail skills required
  • Work-related experience required, preferably in international logistics and supply chain distribution
  • Good working knowledge of FCPA Regulations
  • Previous experience working closely with Freight Forwarders
  • Advanced analytical and operational execution management skills
  • Prior working experience of customs Procedures and Regulations
  • Prior working experience of Logistics Processes and Procedures
  • The ability to work in a team environment as well as an ability to work unsupervised
  • Demonstrable previous experience in Customs Compliance or related field

PREFFERED

  • DOT Dangerous Goods Certification
  • IATA and IMDG Certification

 

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

REQUIRED

  • Ability to work and interact with all levels of personnel, and maintain strong business relationships
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks within strict deadlines
  • Change management expertise
  • Knowledge of or experience in the following fields are required:

o   Strong knowledge of Global transportation (air, integrator, ground, rail and ocean modes/service levels)

o   International Tax & VAT/GST

o   Trade Compliance: Customs and Export; Duties

o   Logistics and transportation processes, systems and costing

o   Finance

  • Trade Compliance experience - emphasis on Oil and Gas Service Industry
  • Must be accurate, with an eye for detail and have good communication skills
  • Strong Quality Assurance experience - with a focus on Oil and Gas Service Industry
  • Hands-on experience in a leadership role driving a culture of change and continuous improvement
  • Be product, process and systems technically oriented.
  • Well organized and able to manage multiple concurrent tasks
  • Demonstrates written, verbal and presentation skills; credible with internal stakeholders and external audiences in English and at least one other geo-regional language

  • Strong Quality Assurance experience - with a focus on Oil and Gas Service Industry
  • Hands-on experience in a leadership role driving a culture of change and continuous improvement
