Our NEXUS Control Business designs and builds industry leading, custom designed controls systems and applications for gas- and steam turbines, generators and compressors to control and monitor industrial equipment in the power and oil & gas sectors. We deliver engineered-to-order solutions in a wide range of industries and geographical locations.

As a Project Engineer - Unit Controls you will cultivate customer relationships and lead engineered solutions to deliver value to our customers. You will develop knowledge and experience with electrical and mechanical control systems for unit operations (turbines, pumps, compressors, etc.)

As Project Engineer - Unit Controls, you will be responsible for:
  • Reviewing project information to understand scope. This includes schedules, process flows, manuals, commercial documentation, and engineering specs.
  • Applying electrical and mechanical engineering principles to analyze, design, test, and troubleshoot industrial process control systems, while minimizing cost.
  • Ensuring all products meet quality control standards.
  • Designing and understanding technical plans, blueprints, drawings and models.
  • Providing customers with technical direction and support.
  • Supporting site commissioning and customer communication both internal and external.
  • Troubleshooting complex mechanical, electrical, control, and process issues on live systems as well as simulations.
  • Designing control systems for interface to existing unit operations equipment, and evaluate all system components, requirements, and interactions.
  • Programing/configuring control system software in a visual programming language.
  • Ensuring project execution is carried out safely, in order to comply with company health Safety and environmental (HSE) guidelines and procedures.
  • Supporting Packaged Systems Engineers in defining and selecting cabinet and controls hardware.

Work Experience

To be successful in this role you will:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a STEM major (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) or equivalent knowledge or experience
  • Travel up to 25% of the time, as required
  • Experience with industrial equipment in Power, Metals, Pulp & Paper, Chemical plants and other rotating machinery
