Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently looking for a Mechanical Technical Instructor with extensive experience in course instruction within the oil and gas petrochemical industry.

The position is located in Mongomo, Equatorial Guinea on a rotational (8x4) basis - which may be extended due to current restrictions.

Job Summary:

Designs and Executes mechanical course material for the Equatorial Guinean National workforce. Authors training systems and programs to meet Nationalization targets, which will reduce future operating costs. Ensures safety standards are introduced into all training programs. Under the direction and guidance of the ITNHGE Supervisor, ensures creation and delivery of the Mechanical Training and Development department's (T&D) technical training plans and goals.

The main tasks and responsibilities are:

• Conducts classroom training in mechanical drawing.
• Conducts classroom and workshop instruction in mechanical maintenance and trouble shooting, valves, pumps, compressors, and engines.
• Tests and grades students' work.
• Creates and maintains student records including test results, attendance figures and progress reports.
• Sends periodic attendance and performance reports to the Technical Training Coordinator.
• Acts as a mentor to students.
• Tutors students who may require individual attention.
• Maintains security of all ITNHGE facilities and property, including materials and equipment. Ensures that all classrooms and offices are secure at the end of each day.
• Prepares requisitions for the purchase of equipment, materials and supplies.
• Maintains assigned ITNHGE training equipment.
• Tracks ITNHGE training equipment, materials and supplies inventory.
• Attends relevant meetings where required.
• Prepares lesson plans and other course materials.
• Ensures progress in Competency Assurance System.

Skills / Qualifications

Extensive experience in:
  • Criterion Referenced (Performance Based) Instruction
  • Skill and Knowledge with centrifugal and positive displacement pumps, compressors, steam and gas turbines, gearboxes, lubricating systems, and alignment procedures
  • Knowledge of hazardous area classifications
  • Mechanical maintenance in a refinery, chemical, petrochemical, or oil and gas facility
  • Understanding of Offshore Platform Operations
  • Knowledge of Safety, Health, Environment issues related to the Oil & Gas Industry
  • Principles and Methodology of Education
  • Classroom Instruction Experience or OJT experience

Languages required:
  • Essential - fluent in English
  • Desired - understanding of Spanish
  • Knowledge of Oil and Gas industry terminology
