Overview / Responsibilities

Wood is currently recruiting a Senior Highways Engineer to join our Built Environment, Infrastructure engineering team. We are open to full time remote flexible working for the right candidate but under normal working conditions the team is based in London, Birimingham or Leamington Spa (whichever office is the most convienent.

The successful candidate will lead the delivery of highway design projects including the 3D highway alignment designs, production/co-ordination of highway engineering drawings and technical reporting input at all stages from feasibility and 'optioneering' through to the production of detailed design drawings for procurement and construction.

The Senior Highways Engineer will work in close collaboration with Wood's Transportation Team and other engineering departments across the wider UK offices.

Key Duties
  • Proficient in the use of the Design Manual for Road and Bridge Works (DMRB)
  • Management and co-ordination of highway design projects
  • Familiarity of NEC Suite of contract documents, preparation of specifications and bills of quantities
  • Production of computer aided design drawings to clients' engineering standards and specifications and ensuring design deliverables meet required standards of accuracy and quality including Civils 3D design software and AUTOCAD
  • Working in conjunction with multi-disciplinary engineering teams, including civil, transportation and water management
  • Understanding the importance of health and safety throughout the design and construction phases of a project


Skills / Qualifications

Essential
  • Knowledge/experience of using highway design software packages
  • Knowledge of DMRB
  • Proficiency in using AutoCAD and Civil 3D.
  • Proficiency in Computer Aided Design (CAD) with an excellent working knowledge of AutoCAD for production of construction drawings
  • Ability to work accurately, flexibly and to integrate their work with other discipline areas, whilst working to tight programme and budget constraints
  • Ability to communicate fluently with other team members and produce reports in clear English.

Preferred
  • Experience with Autodesk Vehicle tracking software
  • Proficiency in using drainage software Micro-Drainage.
  • A good understanding of the CDM Regulations


Qualifications required
  • MEng/BEng in Civil Engineering or other relevant degree level qualification.
  • Minimum 5 years relevant experience
  • Working towards Chartership of a relevant organisation such as ICE/ IHT
